Homefromtheforest Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Feeling a bit under the weather so took the day off work and had the house to myself all day to spin records...a rarity these days with a wife and child The playlist for today: Don Rendell/Ian Carr "Phase III" (EMI lansdowne, UK) Amancio D'Silva "Integration" (EMI lansdowne, UK) Ken McIntyre "Year of the Iron Sheep" (united artists, US) - just side one Weather Report "I sing the body electric" (columbia, US) - just side one (studio side) Stooges "funhouse" (elektra, US) - just side one Oliver Nelson "Blues and the abstract truth" (Impulse, USA) - just side one And currently: Steve Lacy "prospectus" 2LP (Hat Art)...one of my favorite Lacy group recordings on this label along with "Morning Joy" and "We See"....really they are all great but I think the wonderful IRCAM production gives this a boost and George Lewis is incredible on here Quote

Clunky Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 Fraser MacPherson - Oliver Gannon: I Didn't Know About You (Sackville) I like this one. Arve Henriksen - Places of Worship [Rune Grammofon] is this really a five star record? Quote
mjazzg Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 Arve Henriksen - Places of Worship [Rune Grammofon] is this really a five star record? No, not in my oopinion. I have all Henriksen's leader recordings and I'd say this is not as good as the three other Rune Granmmofons but better than Cartography on ECM. It sounds to me as someone comfortable with their sound and choosing not to divert from it very much. Quote
