John Patton - Accent On The Blues (Liberty). Black/light blue label with Van Gelder in the deadwax. This is the first time I've heard this. I guess I never got around to picking this date up on CD.

Worth picking up?

Worth picking up?

Yes, and the CD issue has half of a "bonus" session with George Coleman. The other half is on Memphis to New York Spirit.

The bonus session is well worth it.

No time to listen right now but this arrived in the mail today:

v200_ROKU006-Mitchell-Marsh-Edwards-FRON

I quite like this set. Roscoe sounds to my untutored ear much more aggressive than on the various AEC or Nessa sessions. He's even less interested in melody than previously.

I don't recall knowing these were 45 rpm.

Ben Hill United Methodist Church Majestic Choir - Prayer and Faith (Savoy). Ben Hill is a suburb of Atlanta.

This again, chosen from among several local (Atlanta) gospel albums I was thinking about tonight.

Jerry McCain - Blues on the Move (Robox). Gadsden, Alabama's foremost bluesman on a pretty hard-to-find 1979 album. It's poised nicely between Southern soul blues and more traditional styles.

Albert Ayler 'Spirits Rejoice' (the new ESP reissue).

The back cover features some of the photos I took during the recording session (they are rightfully credited on the copy I have)!
