jeffcrom Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Sidney Bechet - King of the Soprano Saxophone (Good Time Jazz). French recordings, 1952-55, mostly with Jonah Jones. Bechet always benefited from being paired with a strong trumpeter. Quote

Homefromtheforest Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 A long listening session last night: Terje Rypdal "waves" (German ECM) Terje Rypdal "what comes after" (German ECM) Mathias Eick "skala" (German ECM) Ralph Towner "solstice" (German ECM) And the last record, just to shake things up a tiny bit: New jazz festival Hamburg 75 (German, polydor) ..a nice Rypdal track on this great live compilation but the real standout for me is the amazing live track by Eberhard Weber's "yellow fields" band...I really wish this particular group could have been recorded live more often...this is the only released live track I know of.
