A couple of very cool Euro Blue Note compilations:

'Scotch & Sofa' (Blue Note France 2LP compilation by DJ 'Booster'. Poppa Lou's 'One Cylinder' just spinning ( :tup ). This one sounds way better than the CD version)

'Heroes of the Hammond Vol 2' (Blue Note UK 2LP compilation. Some great stuff on this - George Braith, Larry Young, Lonnie Smith for starters).

a couple of Amiga 45s:

- Manfred Ludwig Sextett 5 50 204

- Werner Pfüller Quintett 5 50 143

and for good fun:

- Meier/Gollasch 4 50 372

the Ludwig and Pfüller are pretty fantastic, glad I didn't pass on these.

I am at the end of Jarret's marathon: just bought a used copy of SUN BEAR CONCERTS, ten LPs to check, and listen to. It's almost a job!

Is it any good?

Just spinning Basil Kirchin 'Abstractions of the Industrial North' (Trunk Records). From 1966, Jimmy Page meets Tubby Hayes ( :o )

Yes, I mean they are great, but TEN lps of piano solos...in two days  That's exactly the reason because I prefer single album rather than sets, and LP rather than cd, my concentration skills faded with my age :D

I don't know - it's probably a mere breeze compared with 17 Lps of Maynard Ferguson Roulette  :D

Or the Ellington Rca, but CDs are supposed to be perfect and last forever... :w

Teddy Edwards with Les McCann - It's about time (Pacific, Toshiba-EMI)

Bud Shank plays tenor (Pacific, Toshiba-EMI)

I love these japan reissues. KING is always prefered but Toshiba did also a great job. (Forget XX-bit hysteria - buy vinyl  )

Quite ! I usually go for King myself but the Dizzy Reece Toshiba currently being spun sounds as good as any issue I have heard. I'll bet it sounds way better than the Mosaic Select too..

Pee Wee Russel Plays - WRC ( ex DOT) 1960?- no date given

The WRC label from the UK produced quite a number of sessions licensed from other labels in the USA. Pressings and quality of the issues I've seen are very good for what I presume was a budget label/ record club.

Laurie Johnson 'Synthesis' (Columbia Lansdowne stereo). Third-stream-ish session with Tubby Hayes and Joe Harriott.

New York Art Quartet 'Mohawk' (UK Fontana). With John Tchicai

Eric Dolphy 'Last Date' (UK Fontana mono) :tup
