porcy62 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) I am at the end of Jarret's marathon: just bought a used copy of SUN BEAR CONCERTS, ten LPs to check, and listen to. It's almost a job! ← Is it any good? Just spinning Basil Kirchin 'Abstractions of the Industrial North' (Trunk Records). From 1966, Jimmy Page meets Tubby Hayes ( ) ← Yes, I mean they are great, but TEN lps of piano solos...in two days That's exactly the reason because I prefer single album rather than sets, and LP rather than cd, my concentration skills faded with my age Edited September 6, 2005 by porcy62 Quote
sidewinder Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I don't know - it's probably a mere breeze compared with 17 Lps of Maynard Ferguson Roulette Quote

Alfred Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Teddy Edwards with Les McCann - It's about time (Pacific, Toshiba-EMI) Bud Shank plays tenor (Pacific, Toshiba-EMI) I love these japan reissues. KING is always prefered but Toshiba did also a great job. (Forget XX-bit hysteria - buy vinyl ) Quote
sidewinder Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 (Forget XX-bit hysteria - buy vinyl ) Quite ! I usually go for King myself but the Dizzy Reece Toshiba currently being spun sounds as good as any issue I have heard. I'll bet it sounds way better than the Mosaic Select too.. Quote
Clunky Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Pee Wee Russel Plays - WRC ( ex DOT) 1960?- no date given The WRC label from the UK produced quite a number of sessions licensed from other labels in the USA. Pressings and quality of the issues I've seen are very good for what I presume was a budget label/ record club. Quote
