aparxa Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Ellington Uptown Les Ballets Africains De Keita Fodeba Vol. 6 Mombasa – Tathagata (enjoyed African R&B quite a lot, this one much less at my first listen) 32 minutes ago, Rabshakeh said: Do they spell the lead's name wrong or is it actually Grailler? It is Graillier. It is a common mistake, even for French folks, to forget the second i after a double l, as it would pronounce basically the same. I remember in Junior high our French teacher challenging us to make less than 3 mistakes to a 15-word dicatation (of the type "Un chasseur qui bayait aux corneilles tira un levraut derrière un groseillier : quelle imbécillité !") and everibody failed. adh1907 Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 Jazz from the Westchester Workshop, London Records 1957. Recent buy for a tenner. A minor masterpiece, in a birth of the cool style. Carmen Leggio, tenor. Eddie Bert, trombone, Gen Allen, baritone, the only names known to me. Vinnie Riccitelli, composer, arranger and alto. A marvellous sounding recording by ‘Unique, New York’. No details of the recording engineer on my UK issue. Quote

It seems that he didn´t have so much luck after leaving Blakey If you read his Wiki entry, his downward career path was probably due to his addictions, rather than bad luck. He died at 38 from cirrhosis. Quote
Pim Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 Hearing unfortunately not fully recovered but this arrived today in the mail and I don’t want do spend another day without music. Energy level is getting way better, did a CrossFit training this morning, and this awesome record makes it even better: Quote
