I know from personal experience 🤔 Haha i could definitely see why. But not really in the financial position to buy any more first pressings. I found this one for 55 euros which seemed reasonable especially considering the good condition. now spinning this excellent set: Quote

I bought the above Fresh Sound reissue about 22-23 years ago when a huge lot of Fresh Sound LPs showed up at a local secondhand record store. A couple of years later, failing to make the association, I picked up an (admittedly low-priced) copy of "Jack Sheldon and his All-Star Band" on (U.S.) GNP Crescendo GNPS 9036 - a 1976 reissue of exactly the same contents that had me totally fooled because of the very different cover and layout. (That one now sits in my fleamarket crate of jazz duplicate LPs). But to add insult to injury, some years ago, checking some LPs I had not listened to for a long time, I discovered I already owned the entire contents of this LP on the V.A. twofer "West Coast Scene" on (UK) Vogue Jazz Double VJD 536 since some time in the 90s. Who'da thunk Jack Sheldon (of all West Coasters) and this LP exactly would have been graced by so many reissuers in so many different corners of the market ... Oh well ... sidewinder Posted 41 minutes ago Report Posted 41 minutes ago I've got that music on the 'West Coast Scene' Vogue Jazz Double set as well. All 3 sets in that series are useful. Quote

As a longtime record collector I could not avoid similar experiences (there are obviously more collectors here in the forum). Just recently bought a vinyl on Concord Jazz vinyl "The Jazz Giants live from Switzerland" issued with complete different cover and found out I have the japanese EmArCy reissue for years on the shelf. It is necessary to check the content (tracks) first if you have a bigger collection. From that Fresh Sound vinyl era you have mentioned I have a good bunch of Items bought here in Germany becaus the US originals were long oop and Jordi Pujol had started the reissues later on CD's only. The problem for trading vinyl is you can do it only here with european collectors. The postage for sending a vinyl to the US is pure robbery . Edited 1 minute ago by jazzcorner text correction Quote
