I don't normally buy vinyl records that I haven't heard and haven't heard of. But in those days I had space, loft era free jazz was that bit cheaper, and those were names on which I felt I could take a bet.

It was the moment where I had to start to learn that music for me to play, I mean to play including more knowledge of playing jazz. Until then I was just the admirer of music like the contemporanous Miles Davis and Charles Mingus, of Ornette Coleman late Trane, Pharoah, Sun Ra. I discoved Bird just from trying to read liner notes, where there was mentioned Charlie Parker. Before that I didn´t know there  was astonishing modern soundig music as far back as 1950.

Indeed it is, very fine album created under sad circumstances. I have an original pressing of this but the Tone Poet to my mind might be even better. I'm currently spinning Big John Patton 'Let Em Roll' Tone Poet and coming to a similar conclusion vs the Liberty !

Just put in an order for a few more - including 'Dialogue' and the Clifford Jordan. They are dangerously addictive..
