Just one of those things. Looking forward to playing this. Anthony London Quote
JSngry Posted December 15 Report Posted December 15 That "Stardust" solo appears to have caused a bit of a stir back in the day. My high school band director had that 10", and I've seen your 12" on both LP and CD for decades. Quote
HutchFan Posted Monday at 05:49 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:49 PM (edited) My boss gave me a $100 gift card for Christmas, so I splurged and bought three Bobby Hutcherson LPs -- Happenings, Oblique, and Medina -- even though I already have these albums on CD. Now spinning: This is the first Tone Poet I've ever heard, and -- I've gotta admit -- the AQ is remarkable. Of course, the music is stupendous. But I knew that already. That was the first Tone Poet I bought and yes it sounds amazing. It was for me also the album that made me decide I had to own every Hutch on Blue Note. Quote

It was for me also the album that made me decide I had to own every Hutch on Blue Note. I have no difficulty whatsoever understanding that sentiment. Over the years, I've collected (nearly) everything that Hutcherson ever recorded -- both as a leader and sideman -- across his entire career. For me, Medina was the first Hutcherson album that blew my mind & made me want to hear all of his music. And it just so happens that I'm now listening to . . . Medina. Quote
HutchFan Posted Monday at 07:03 PM Report Posted Monday at 07:03 PM And now on to Happenings, which is my favorite Bobby Hutcherson album (on most days): Quote
