Great music!  I wish I had a copy of that LP.  😜

The reissues are getting expensive but are still affordable. This one was pressed by Gotta Groove and sounds great :)

One of the best albums of that great time, one of my first idols as a musician, so it is one of my alltime favourite albums.

I have heard Liebman when he was with Miles, and then with "Lookout" Farm, then during his World Tour with Chick Corea, at the same time for some days "off" during that time (1978) at Jazzland with Fritz Pauer Trio, and one year later or so with the first "Quest"-band, when Dave Liebman signed me my "Drum Ode" copy.
It was John Scofiel, who had led me to the Master, to get my album signed (with my name !) .

Palle Mikkelborg - Ashoka Suite [Metronome, Denmark 1970]

It's taken a while to track this down but I'm very pleased I have.  A while ago I started a thread about trombone and vibes front lines, this has four trombones with its vibes!

Do you know The Mysterious Corona? Another excellent one from the same period and in a similar vein.

I do but I don't like it as much, nor it's prices...

That's a great one indeed, I discovered it on a @felser BFT and I'm forever grateful for that every time I play it

1969 recording session with Barre Philips on bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums. This was intended to be released by BYG that very year but was released by Affinity in 1984. It’s a great session with some intense en percussive playing by the whole band.

Mal playing with some excellent European sidemen. Henk Haverhoek on bass and Pierre Courbois on drums.

As so often Mal Waldron gets out the best of his sideman ....
