mjazzg Posted April 15, 2023 Report Posted April 15, 2023 (edited) Gideon Nxumalo - Gideon Plays [Matsuli Music, UK 2021 RE] Dollar Brand - The Journey [Chiaroscuro Records, 1977] Side 2 of this is one of the great side long tracks, the oboe on which is credited to Talib Rhynie, their only credit on Discogs. Anyone know more about him? Edit to add: simple Google search reveals it's T.K.Blue who I have come across Edited April 15, 2023 by mjazzg Quote
sidewinder Posted April 15, 2023 Report Posted April 15, 2023 (edited) Haven’t played this for over 30 years and what a corker ! Amazing band lineup and great performance. Cost me all of 99p back in the day.. UK Pye pressing. Fine band underpinned by Ronnie Mathews, Victor Sproles and Ed Soph. Grammavision - the label confirms I paid £7.49 at Our Price for this one. Clark Terry's Big-B-A-D-Band Live at the Wichita Jazz Festival is excellent too -- but I prefer At Buddy's Place by a whisker. Edited April 15, 2023 by HutchFan Quote
sidewinder Posted April 15, 2023 Report Posted April 15, 2023 I remember watching a BBC show by Clark and the Big Bad Band on TV in the mid 1970s. To this day, I’ve never seen it repeated nor has it copped up on the internet. Presume it must have been wiped. I have that Wichita Jazz Festival LP somewhere too. 2 hours ago, Pim said: Excellent stuff. !!!! now playing: my favorite Chico I bought that one when it came out and still have a copy. Quote
