Teasing the Korean Posted October 5, 2021 Report Posted October 5, 2021 Last night's dinner music: The arrangements feature flutes and harpsichord. I scored my copy in the early 90s as part of a huge space-age bachelor pad haul. I don't think I've ran across another copy since. Quote

HutchFan Posted October 5, 2021 Report Posted October 5, 2021 Another LP that arrived in the mail today: The Dynamic Hampton Hawes (MPS, Netherlands) Reissue of Hamp's Piano (SABA/MPS, 1969). Superb music and audio fidelity. Quote

Now spinning: Tony Williams - Angel Street (Blue Note, 1988) I love the last cut on the LP's first side, "Dreamland": I think it would be interesting to hear this piece with a churning Hammond B-3 organ. Not sure why that came to mind. Maybe because I've been listening to Lifetime? Edited October 5, 2021 by HutchFan Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted October 6, 2021 Report Posted October 6, 2021 Eddie Daniels - First Prize! (Prestige mono). Daniels with Roland Hanna (p); Richard Davis (b) & Mel Lewis (d). This is a very nice date by Daniels, who surprisingly only plays clarinet on 3 of the 8 tracks. On the remainder of the tracks, he plays tenor sax and sounds pretty good doing it. As good as he is on the clarinet I'm surprised he didn't stick with it. Quote
