As far as wardrobe goes, people talk about Hendrix's "hat period" and his "headband time."  Why can't we talk about Sonny's silky 70s shirt?!?!

And what about the HATS?  Sonny can pull off a chapeau as well as anyone.  ;)

The man digs his hats!

When I saw Sonny Rollins in 1979 he had a hat similar to that blue hat on the first picture, but in white. It´s the same white hat he has on the photo of the back cover of the album "Don´t Ask" from the same year.

Hank Crawford / Jimmy McGriff - Steppin' Up (Milestone, 1987)
with Jimmy Ponder (g), Vance James (d), and -- on three cuts -- Billy Preston (p)

One of the best Crawford / McGriff collaborations, IMO.

Haven't played this in a while.

That's a very Webster Hall-sounding album, I think. Bought the LP back in the day and have always liked it. Some of the best Schildkraut, interesting if somewhat low-key Eager, and fine Ernie Royal.

APQ: The Maiden Voyage Sessions, Vol. 3 (Galaxy)

Very good, but not in the league of the Ronnie Scott`s performances ....

Along with playing soprano sax and flute, Dave Liebman composed four of the six cuts on this LP.

The Elvin Jones collaboration with Dave Liebman was really fantastic.
