Rabshakeh Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 (edited) John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman (Impulse!, 1963). Pure waxed Christmas Eve. When I went to college, a friend of my parents told my dad to buy this for me, making it one of the first jazz albums I owned. I can't think what he had in mind... That was one of the first 5-10 jazz record I had. Side 1 is still a kick for me, still a kick. Quote

Great soloists and excellent sound. Edited December 26, 2020 by kh1958 Quote

jcam_44 Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 Prince - Art Official Age I've always loved this album though it is very R&Bish, and a little over polished with the production but the song writing is top notch. Never knew it was on vinyl and happened upon a sealed copy. Quote
kh1958 Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 Joe Morello, It's About Time (RCA); Features Phil Woods and Gary Burton. Quote

I had to rip side two to get the whole thing onto my hard drive. Blooming LOVELY album! MG Quote
sidewinder Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 Good to know that Mr Noto is still with his. Remember seeing him in the Dave McMurdo Orchestra as featured trumpet soloist. Quote

Chewy, his full name is Robert Alfonso Crocker, and he is 91. Time for a phone call! We see owners names quite a bit on old records, and rarely to almost never on albums from the 1970s onwards. One thing I can think of is when they were living in college dormitories, getting back their loaned albums would be easier. Or they belonged to record clubs... Quote
sidewinder Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 That Kenny Dorham album is good ! More fascinating material from the Basil Kirchin tape archive. Quote
