One of the few good things about this lockdown, apart from more time for gardening, is time for adjustments to the hi fi set up. Just re-routed Naim NACA5 speaker cable so more distance from other cables, less mutual inductance and well away from the TV. Blow me down - seems to have improved the soundstage. Unfortunately I have a jungle of interconnects power chords and speakers cables and not enough space on the back side on the system for bringing some order. It’s a problem even for cleaning. Quote

Sometime I dream the old times when I had a turntable, an integrated amp and a couple of small speakers. I am a zen guy that love the empty space and empty home. Quote

Surprising what difference it makes though (he says in hushed voice, not wanting to provoke another sonics snake-oil thread ). Quote

I hate inflexibile cables. Had some of them at times I quickly changed with more handy stuff. Now listen to this, pretty good sounding LT series' record IMO. Quote

Ironically, I currently have an alternate cable on order to try out from a small and very good UK specialist, nice and flexible and superior (reputedly) to the Naim but with very similar physical spec. Should arrive next week, at which stage I will lock down in lockdown for a long listening session. Quote

porcy62 Posted April 26, 2020 Report Posted April 26, 2020 in my direct experience of Japanese hi-fi I think they are looking for a relaxed and correct tone with no wow factor on bass or high definition. Love their stuff. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 Jorma Kaukonen with Tom Hobson - Quah (Grunt). I got the limited edition (500) yellow/red split vinyl. Jorma played at the Shalin Liu performing arts center a few years back, so I got him to sign my LP. This record is much better than that performance. To be honest, the show wasn't that great - certainly not worth what I paid for a ticket. I guess the show was in 2016. I kept the stub. Quote
HutchFan Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 Hey! It's James Moody (Cadet, 1960) An excellent quartet session with guitarist Johnny Gray taking the role usually filled by a pianist.
