Here is a concert from the Free Trade Hall, Manchester [Info for the location from Lord's] - rec. April 1959. Did you see this concert? Must have been a great event acc. Steve Voce's notes. sidewinder Posted March 30, 2020 Report Posted March 30, 2020 I actually saw Woody at Ronnie Scotts circa 1980 when either the BBC or ITV were broadcasting half an hour of it live ! Apparently the back of my head was visible during the broadcast but I never saw it then or since. Quote
ghost of miles Posted March 30, 2020 Report Posted March 30, 2020 H/t to Sam Stephenson for recommending this 1978 double-LP Impulse compilation of Coltrane's 1963 recordings with Roy Haynes, which I was able to snag online for a ridiculously reasonable price: Quote

Clunky Posted April 1, 2020 Report Posted April 1, 2020 Miles Davis ————Dark Magus———-( Sony Japan) 1977 issue/reissue. had this for years but on coming back I’m stuck how dark it is, albeit not as black as Pangea etc...All the traces of funk / groove which made Bitches Brew so hummable are gone. HutchFan Posted April 1, 2020 Report Posted April 1, 2020 Outstanding late-70s McCoy. Contributions by violinist John Blake add a different flavor. 1 hour ago, soulpope said: Worth checking out .... I second that notion. Géza Anda is a phenomenal pianist. And not just in Chopin. Quote
