It looks like the mono LP has 2 more tracks than the stereo version, "Celedia" & "Wildwood". For a Fresh Sounds CD, they managed to dig up another track, "Bye Bye Blues", that must've been on some compilation over the years.

My mono LP has eight tracks. Oddly, Howard Rumsey does not play on the record--notes say so he could man the control room.

My  Liberty LPR 3045 [FSR reissue 1984] has also 8 tracks. Red Mitchell is the bass player. Rumsey wrote the liner notes.

Cover says" Lighthouse Series Vol one.

Vol two is  Liberty LRP 3051 " Tenors Head-On  with Bill Perkins & Richie Kamuca

Vol three is Liberty LRP 3064 " Drummin' The Blues with Max Roach & Stan Levey

The label Contemporary has also issued recordings  in a series "Lighthouse ". Have to review my stock for this one.

The LP lists Wilfred Middlebrooks as the bassist on three of the tracks, Red Mitchell on the other five.

He's on 2 tracks on the Brookmeyer Mosaic select.

I liked the record. He sort of sounds like a combination of Jimmy Witherspoon and Jimmy Rushing.

Sometime more interesting than others, but capable of being very interesting often enough to keep me on the lookout for his stuff.

Check this one out. Not THAT far removed from, say, George Lewis. Not "the same thing", but still...ideas are in everybody's air, too, not just viruses

Great set - especially in vinyl. :tup

Indeed, I tend to understimate labels like Columbia, Miles a part, compared to Blue Note, Prestige, Riverside and others.

So do the pricing structures of the used bins, often enough. Just sayin'...

Correct. I’d buy a Riverside or a Pacific Jazz or a Vee Jay or a Prestige or an Impulse sight unseen. Columbia and other general  labels might be underestimated unless they have some big names on the cover.
