Mike Osbourne / Stan Tracey---------Tandem-------(Ogun)

Not too sure that Stan has mastered the idiom. He follows Osbourne around in an unconvincing manner. The whole thing is more of a curiosity really . It's better when freer passages give way to form.

Rena Rama, Landscapes (JAPO). Interesting Swedish band with Lennart Ã…berg, Bobo Stenson and Palle Danielsson. The drummer on this one, Leroy Lowe, is not Swedish and was a new name for me. He was from Pittsburgh and moved to Sweden in the 1970s. Here's a bio: http://www.touchemusic.se/leroylowe.html

In addition to what's listed on the link, Leroy Lowe played on a couple of Khan Jamal Steeplechase records: Dark Warrior and The Traveler.

How is it? I'm tempted with the LP version of that one. Edited by sidewinder

good heavy vinyl, its pretty quiet, or quiet enough-- definitely a great piece

I have the CD version of this. The source is a cassette tape from the soundboard. Not the best sound but more than passable. Fine performances as you would expect from these individuals. A worthy purchase for fans of Red.

Johnny Glasel--------Jazz session------(ABC Paramount) DG

Spiritely playing by Glasel with Dick Garcia on guitar on the majority of tracks. No piano ,so the whole session feels light and nimble. There's even an early cover (1956) of Monk's "Ruby my dear". Lovely set all round.

AEC---------Live in Japan-----(DIW) single LP.

I think the CD released added more material . This session seems more conventional jazzy than some . Beautiful none the less.
