I decided to put this here instead of in the main ECM thread because I'm guessing the interest will be more general - but in January, ECM will be releasing a 2013 live recording of a quintet with Jack, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell, Henry Threadgill and Richard Larry Gray as a 50th anniversary tribute to the AACM (with compositions by Jack, Muhal, Roscoe, Henry as well as some collective improv). It's live so some of Manfred Eicher's more controversial production choices should be less less disruptive, I'm guessing.

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/products?term.list_id=ecm_shmcd_20150213 What would be your recommendations to somebody not really into the ECM's jazz output? I do not see any new remastering info. Thanks Alex

Food is touring in advance of a forthcoming release on ECM. First time in the US! “Contemporary music through and through, driven by a rhythmic urgency and mix of acoustic and electronic sound that could only be happening now” - The GuardianUK Iain Ballamy - saxophones / electronics Thomas Strønen - drums / electronics Since its first concert in 1998 this groundbreaking group has toured internationally making thought provoking improvised music of great depth, texture and beauty and have defined a new kind of lyrical electro-acoustic improvisation. Iain Ballamy from the UK on saxophones/electronics and Norwegian Thomas Strønen drums/percussion/electronics use sound, space, and contrast to produce ever-changing moods. By combining acoustic elements including bells, blocks, gongs and lyrical saxophone, the music is enhanced and tempered with live sampling and drums generating atmospheres ranging from minimalist to turbulent. Lately, Food has worked with artists such as trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer, Austrian guitarist Christian Fennesz and Indian sitar/vocalist Prakash Sontakke. Food is touring in support of their 8th album out on ECM. http://www.ballamy.com/food/ https://soundcloud.com/iainballamy/sets/food-iain-ballamy-thomas http://www.thomasstronen.com/xml/concerts.php USA/Canada Tour Dates 2015 Jan. 15 Vancouver, CA The Ironworks Jan. 16 Edmonton, CA Yardbird Suite Jan. 17 Seattle, WA Poncho Concert Hall Jan. 21 Austin, TX The North Door Jan. 22 Chicago, IL Constellation Jan. 23 NYC,NY Le Poisson Rouge Jan. 25 Baltimore,MD The Windup Space Jan. 26 Montreal, CA Casa del Popolo Jan. 29 NYC, NY Sjømannskirken

Just saw a reference to this - Lloyd and Moran covering Ellington, Monk, Brian Wilson, Billie Holiday, and some originals. I am pretty excited about this - I hope they play some concerts
