  1. It shows how important pictures have become in our society! I honestly don't need to see a guy on his knees to understantd how serious and worrying the situation is. We had the same pictures in Britain of reporters trying to stand in awful conditions and struggling to stay on their feet! WTF is this all about? Do we really need to see these pictures to feel for Florida, New Orleans etc... Do we need to see people crying to feel for and HELP people who suffered from the earthquake in Pakistan, the tsunamis etc...
  2. Good to see you back and to know you and your beloved ones are fine. I have never experienced any natural disaster but I am sure it changes the way you look at life and the way you interact with other people. Good luck with the repairs!
  3. Happy birhtday!!!
  4. Did they have it in stock or did you have to wait ten days before your order was dispatched? I ordered the Basie and the Farmer sets a week ago and they haven't been sent yet. I am getting a bit worried.....
  5. Happy birthday!
  6. Are you talking about used original pressings or new reissues? I buy most of the used records in US, on line. They are cheaper than italian shops, (and UK shop too: try to buy some original pressing of early classic rock ) and when the € were flying like a sputnik over $ . Sadly the current currecy market is playing against my collection. ← I meant both. thanks Porcy.
  7. Thank you both. I have been to this shop in Paris a few times. It is a good place . I will try their website.
  8. Where do European board members get their LPs from? Any recommended websites? Where should I get my Blue Note, OJC and Impulse LPs at decent prices and reasonable shipping charges? Thanks for your help!
  9. Couldn't resist. I have just ordered the Basie and the Farmer, Golson... sets. Any idea why the European version is so much cheaper than the American version? And why are these sets sold for 59 euros on Amazon Germany against 140 euros in France or Britain. I can't see the logic in that.
  10. He has converted to SACD http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=63234 ← LOL I'm fine and thanks. Have other stuff going on. Have not been buying jazz. I did get the Classic Records reissue of Sonny Criss: Jazz USA. They did a great job!! Oh, and I even bought a CD.......the Bird/Diz Town Hall. Maybe, I'll start posting more soon. ← I have managed to grab a few Mosaic LP sets at reasonable prices while you were away. . Welcome back.
  11. Thanks for the tip Claude.
  12. Seller and buyer are in the UK, so shipping will be less expensive than what Mosaic charges on overseas orders (at least $20 if I remember well). And there is no risk of having customs tax added. ← Talking about taxes, I have recently had to pay hefty amounts of money for items coming from the US and entering the UK. Is it better to ask ebay sellers to declare items as 'gifts' or 'goods'? When do customs start charging you? $50, $70, $100 or more?
  13. I thought France were pretty good tonight against Cyprus considering what was at stake. They scored some good goals and with Henry and Trezeguet out, they proved they can still be a dominant force. The main thing was to qualify and they have done the job. They have never really been convincing throughout this qualifying year but Trezeguet only played one game out of ten, Henry was out of form and then injured. The World Cup will be tough and there is a lot of work to do to build a competitive team, but we have the players to beat any team. No major surprise in the European qualifying groups apart from Spain being the runner up of their group and the Ukraine topping theirs.
  14. This is the only reason I can think of. There have been a lot of Larry Young sets sold recently on Ebay and the price of the set has logically gone down.
  15. How much did the Horace Parlan, the Larry Young and the Andrew Hill sets sell for?
  16. It's here at the bottom of page 1. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...l=discographies
  17. Well done. I listened to the four Mosaic CDs all day yesterday and I appreciate Mclean's music more and more. 'Destination Out' is superb. Enjoy!
  18. No comment! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HANK-MOBLEY-Mosaic-1...1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Jackie McLean CD2. Fantastic stuff!

    Donald Byrd

I have missed that one! It does not appear on the Blue Note website or cduniverse (apart from the Japanese reissue). Order placed!

    Donald Byrd

Am I right to think that 'Byrd in Flight' is OOP? I have seen this CD for sale several times on ebay and not being bought (with a low start price!). Have I missed anything? Is it a bad session or is there another explanation?
  22. I am a bit late too but I hope you had a nice one!
  23. I have been on a diet for a few weeks and I am doing pretty well. But when it comes to cheese, any Frenchman would find it difficult to resist.I make sure there is not too much stock in the fridge! My favourite is 'Epoisses' which is made in Burgundy (France). Great stuff! I doubt you can find it in the States but I strongly recommend it to our British board members. In the UK, Waitrose is the only place where you can find it. Give it a go, you won't regret it!
