  1. Gil Evans Out of the Cool' (Mono Impulse Orig.)
  2. Kenny Dorham 'Afro-Cuban' (Toshiba reissue)
  3. I am glad I have managed to let that one go as well. I am pleased with myself!! Always difficult to resist temptation. I am not sure I will as much willpower for the Capitol set....
  4. Gil Evans 'Out of the Cool' (Mono Impulse).
  5. Shelly Manne & his Friends at the Blackhawk 3 (Contemporary Mono).
  6. The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions LP 4.
  7. With that group. Not. However, it's got some blues stuff on there, and Alfred might have thought it too much of the same thing and limited the tracks to 5. That's my guess. Of course, I doubt this is not too high up on the Cuscuna scale of inquiry. I don't own the Donaldson Mosaic set but this album does not seem to be part of it! Any reason? Why is the Mosaic set called 'The Complete Blue Note Lou Donaldson sessions' then?
  8. Lou Donaldson 'Here 'Tis' (Toshiba) Lou Donaldson 'Light Foot' (Toshiba)
  9. The Benedetti Charlie Parker Mosaic. LP1 . Awful sound but great music.
  10. Baby Face Willette 'Stop and Listen' (King) I have never been a big fan of the organ (Sorry Jim! ) but this session is really superb.
  11. Charles Tolliver 'Live at Slugs' (Strata East-Stereo)
  12. Yes these samples sound very nice. Yet, I'd rather listen to two or three full tracks than seven tunes for ten seconds.... It won't be long before this one sits on my shelves!
  13. I can recommend the Japanese Impulse reissues (MCA) - I have a few of those from Mr Tanno and they sound great ! The domestic/US MCAs are from the 1970s/80s I think and tend to be not so great - I seem to recall that the ones from the 80s are DMM. UK 70s Impulses and Red/Black US second pressings are both worth having though. Got my first Japanese Impulse reissue.(MCA). I bought the Oliver Nelson 'Blues and the Abstarct Truth' and I am very very very pleased with it. Thanks for the info, Bob. Shame they are difficult to find and a bit expensive as well.
  14. That forecast must be serious; the milkman delivered two days worth of milk this evening. MG So serious that it was decided yesterday that my school would be closed today! It is nice to read the forum at that time of the day instead of being at work. By the way, we hardly had one centimetre of snow this morning! The weather is now back to normal........ it is raining.!
  15. Bud Shank Studio Sessions. Shame the flute is so rarely used in jazz music. A great set!
  16. Lou Donaldson: Quartet, Quintet, Sextet (King)
  17. I have just added a few more.
  18. Oliver Nelson 'More Blues and the Abstract Truth'. (Impulse MCA).
  19. PM answered and payment received. Thanks.
  20. Up. I am quite curious to find out about your views on Classic records reissues. I have managed to buy a few King reissues lately (Up at Minton's 1 and 2 , Sunny Side up) but they are quite difficult to find. Any records to avoid at all cost, any strong recommendations. Thanks.
  21. Another vote for Black Fire!
  22. Up for the last time....
  23. - George Shearing Mosaic set - Jackie McLean: Jacknife - Charles Tolliver Mosaic Select
  24. This is a great session. I love it. The 'Salt Peanuts' track is pure joy. Listening to Ike Quebec 'Blue Sentimental' (Toshiba)
