  1. I finally dragged my CD's out of storage and, after flipping through them, have decided to sell the vast majority of them. I shudder at the effort involved in shipping these piece meal and will probably setup shop at the next record show in September. PM if you are in the STL area and would like a sneak peak. Lots of great stuff, primarily from major labels... pre-RVG BN's, Jap BN's, K2's, Verve Elite / Master, box sets, imports from Dusty, etc...
  2. Where do you find this stuff in Atlanta? I travel there quite a bit an dont see material like this at the usual haunts.
  3. Just picked this up in ATL while on a business trip! Great stuff.
  4. Last night's session... The Real McCoy - UA press The Ira Sullivan Quintet - Delmar(k) Newk's Time - Original press I'd post pics but... Instagram. http://instagram.com/cuyahogabend
  5. I was fortunate enough to find a mono original in excellent shape recently. Comparison with my stereo United Artists pressing probably isnt fair but the mono is killer. Have to believe MM will release a 33rpm mono in the future.
  6. I took a flyer on his second Argo LP and have subsequently found the other two. Is that really it? Any sideman sessions? Saw the Grant Green / Lazar live set is available. How's the sound quality I on that one?
  7. Thanks, guys. I wonder if there's an IG "plug in" for the forum software that would allow the Embed Code to display correctly? Oh well. I'll have to go pic-less for now.
  8. Can we? I've tried cutting and pasting the Instagram "Embed Code" but just get the iframe link, no pic. Here's an example of the Embed Code: <iframe src="//instagram.com/p/qxGuZiEiVO/embed/" width="612" height="710" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
  9. These were done in 33rpm a few years back. I picked up the Griffin on clearance at a local shop. Meh. Good, but certainly not worthy of this sort of package. Wish someone would mine the Steeplechase & Black Saint catalogs instead. Alto Analogue issued a few Steeplechase titles but barely a blip on the radar.
  10. Hehehe... Found the Dorham in Atlanta, the Dolphy in Springfield. Funny story about the Dolphy, I took the record to the counter and watched the owner stare at the tag, then inspect the cover and record. I fully expected him to shelve the sale but he said something along the lines of "looks like _____ (prolly pricing guy) left off a zero. Not your fault, $40 it is."
  11. What's the consensus on the various Japanese pressings? King vs Victor vs Toshiba vs ???
  12. Yeah. I found a VG++ (close to NM-) copy of Outward Bound for $40 a few weeks prior too. Not as good a deal but still...
  13. 10 bucks...
  14. The Arrival of Kenny Dorham on Jaro. Based on what I've seen on various websites, I'm pretty sure its an original in what I would deem, conservatively, VG+ condition.
  15. I just wish those SHM's were's so expensive...
  16. The only place you might be able to demo Oppo is at Magnolia stores attached to larger Best Buy stores. Otherwise, they're only available via mail order.

    Cd Players

I don't have much experience with Marantz or Moon, but Rega holds a special place for me. Great gear, fairly priced, extremely musical. I can't comment on the Apollo-R specifically, but the Rega players I have heard (Saturn, Apollo) were excellent in terms of playing music. Not the most analytical gear around, but lots and lots of fun. Its a top loader, so you'll need to keep that in mind. Have you listened to the Marantz at all? I'm looking at dipping my toe in the SACD waters and would be interested in your experiences with its SACD playback. I'd probably keep my Exposure CD Player for redbook playback.
  18. Talking Heads Dual Disc "Brick" Box Set. $35!
  19. Kinks - Low Budget Koch/Velvel Hybrid
  20. I have a pair of 16 year old Grado SR60's that are still going strong. Picked up a pair of RS1's last spring... They are a revelation. On the road, I switched from Shure in-ear to Senn PX200's. Loved the Shure's but had to switch due to ear pressure issues in the air.
  21. Is the Love Supreme SACD still available?
  22. Jack McDuff - Goodnight, Its Time To Go (Prestige RVG Deep Groove) McDuff, Harold Vick, Joe Thomas, and some guy named Grant Green...
  23. Joe Henderson - Kicker (Milestone, green label... whatever that means)
