  1. All jackets starting with BLP 4022 (Duke Pearson - Profile) up to (around) BLP 4256 (Stanley Turrentine - The Spoiler) have the 61st St. address printed on the back. This site may help. jazzhound likes that site... would like to chew on some of those covers
  2. you guys actually play your vintage vinyl? what are you nuts or something
  3. early admission is a ripoff. dealers in well before then. (and I don't mean the ones who rent tables.) I also went Sunday and was about to swear off record collecting until I :angry:bought some high end west coast pieces from a dealer I know for about 40% off Ebay prices. Some dealers actually got pissed off when I walked away when they highballed me. The New York City attitude still lives. (although it is a long grind for dealers). In all this show is a reflection of New York. Tough , mean and not for the thinskined.
  4. originals mastered by RVg tend to have midrange boost which the Mosaics don't have. Mosaics probably closer to original master tapes in they probably have less eq than what Rudy did. Bottom on Japanese pressings doesn't seem right to me. something a little off tonally to my ears.
  5. no drum machines gents, just Tony playing electronic drums on the intro to one tune on Foreign Intrigue. with Hutcherson and Carter. The first one in the series. something tells me it was Cuscuna's idea.
  6. i sold several vintage records last week on EBAY. ALL went to europe or Japan. I not ever sure any Americans even bid! this is with the dollar strong. very strange.
  7. what is your favorite Rollins on Prestige ? besides Colossus?
  8. the record is Tenor Madness, Sonny Rollins original west 50th Prestige deep groove. nm vinyl except for feelable scratch which causes a stick on last song. cover is vg++. Would like to know what you guys would pay . I can't figure it out.
  9. at some point in the sixties the stereo blue note's just sounded better than the mono's to my ears.
  10. had the opportunity to compare mono copy with ear in vg++ condition to a mono with0out ear in mint conditionl. the one without the ear sounded just as good maybe better ; was a little fatter sounding, maybe more compressed. Obviously this is one of the top sounding Blue Notes.
  11. hawking ebay auctions on this site should be banned period!
  12. Will be performing Music From the Connection with Lou Donaldson taking Jackie's place. Far out!
  13. i just picked up the lp over the weekend. Tony Williams obviously was influenced by this lp...I guess nothing comes from out of the blue in the music world!
  14. ps audio has a new DAC for a grand. should sound nice and clean. No tubes necessary.
  15. Can't seem to catch up with this one. I have plenty good stuff to trade.
  16. I got my sister a Arcam solo integrated amp-cd player and now she decided she needs new speakers to replace the bookshelf speakers she was using. Anyone with recommendations please post. Must be floor standing and sound good against wall . Price range 300 - 700 best. thanks.
  17. anyone know what an original label pressing of u.k. version looks like?
  18. sand paper for the brain. I think Tony was influenced by Hendrix's vocals. OOWWW!
  19. thanks for link...I don't know how to create link anyway a record worth knowing about, might show up in the various artists bin someday cheap like it did for me. Bud Powell cut really strikingly beautiful. wonder if this ever made it to cd?
  20. How about more info/a link? search Popsike.com for more thorough description. Sorry, you haven't given me nearly enough reason to do so. "interesting" "supposed to be rare" " nice music" <yawn> No matter. You couldn't afford it anyway.
