  1. Moyer's looking his age tonight... JM's final totals: 1 inn. 9 hits. 8 earned runs six of the hits were doubles and one home run. That was one ugly start.
  2. Mostly lame inter-league play this weekend, clearly the most interesting series will be Boston vs. Philadelphia -- think I'll listen to the Philly's (Phillies?) broadcast, I'm getting tired of the NESN announcers.
  3. I love how on ESPN 3, you can't hear the halftime analysis but the commercials come in loud and clear.
  4. It was a bad ten days for me not to be anywhere close to a television, stupid travel... Well, at least the Yankees look like they're going to third place in two weeks.
  5. Sometimes, the way managers keep "going by the book" drives me insane. Really, who would you rather face? Teixeira with two on, or ARod with the bases loaded? I would go with pitching to Teixeira every time. Managers always play CYA by making moves like these, that way, after it fails, they can always say: "Well, I went by the book and played the percentages..." In other words, don't blame me.
  6. I get misty just thinking of the beauty that is a Jeeter / ARod bromance....
  7. Game of the Day: Rockies vs. Giants: Ubaldo Jimenez goes against Tim Lincecum -- now that's a great pitching match up.
  8. ... and if Beckett gets healthy and finds his mojo, then yeah, I think the pitching could be good enough. Buckett, for me, is the key. If, (and that's a big if), he can come back in good form, then Boston has a chance, but there is something just flat-out wrong with him, he hasn't looked good since August of last year. Hopefully, he can get his act together, or Boston has wasted a ton of money. A Lackey / Beckett tandem, on top of their game, would be tough to beat down the stretch.
  9. As everyone knows, I'm not a fan of ARod at all, but props to ARod for making the effort to drive to the hospital to see Huff, not knowing Huff was back at Yankee Stadium. Arod even phoned him, so, a classy move on Arod's part.
  10. What a crazy day in baseball, Kendry Morales injured during a game winning, grand slam celebration, what the heck is going on today???? http://www.youtube.c...player_embedded
  11. 1880 was the last time for two perfect games in one season.
  12. Bottom of the 9th. Roy Halladay trying for a perfect game. He got it!!!!!
  13. Replay of what happened.
  14. Off Hulu: A bunch of episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show, The one where Big Max Calvata's nephew wants to get into show business -- hilarious! Now Rob and Jerry are buying a boat together, the Betty Lou, geesh, this is a great show...
  15. Well, this is the thing Ghostie, after the top six, seven players, the Yankees are a mediocre team, if ARod goes down, it's free-fall time. I still don't think they're making the playoffs, Boston's pitching will win out at the end.
  16. All I could think of at some of the fly-byes was Catch-22.
  17. No. 3 is just ridiculous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkEq72djE7I
  18. Bud Shank played a lot of flute, and interestingly enough, later on in life, he regretted it. To my taste, I just don't like how it sounds.
  19. I had for first watermelon of the year today, and put a ton of salt on it too.
  20. I always felt that Miller's AAFB was one of the greatest big bands for popular music ever. I say popular music because the whole purpose of that band was entertainment of the troops, so it concentrated on music that everyone knew, and was not concerned with innovation, or even in creative jazz music, it was more "stick to the chart" kind of music, and boy, from all I've read, Miller was a great stickler about playing the charts. Given that, what they produced really rates them as a great band, and the ability to incorporate a string section added to their sound. They were an unique band, that only could have been created in that unique time of WWII, where Miller had his pick of some outstanding musicians. I've always been a big fan of Miller, and the AAFB. I would definitely suggest the pain of getting the 13 cd set of the Complete Blue Bird Recordings (I lucked out and got it for $40.00 off Ebay about seven years ago), which is still my favorite box set of all time.
  21. Call me shallow but I never listen to alternate takes, thank heaven for the ability to program the cd player. I think adding alt. takes is a scam to get people to buy a new version of a cd.
  22. I just wished that they would do away with inter-league play, it was a terrible idea (along with the DH) to begin with, and now it has outlived it usefulness. Old fogey talk here, but go back to the way baseball was before the DH & inter-league play, and I would be very happy.
  23. Who they? Joe and Nick Jonas. Who they? 2/3rds of the Jonas Brothers.
