  1. Way to go Mariners! last night you hit the 100 loss mark, good job. BTW, I checked, and there are seven teams with 90 or more losses this year -- there was some really awful baseball played this year.
  2. How is this one Lon? I almost picked it up when last at Best Buy.. Now watching: Scrubs: The First Season. I love Scrubs
  3. Goodie, look when I posted this: I've been with the Giants the whole year. and I'm not stopping now...
  4. What is ridiculous is the scenario of all three teams making the playoffs, but having two playoff games to decide who plays who. Why would MLB want three teams to go through all that stuff, when the staffs are already worn out from the end of the season? There has to be a better way to do this, but Selig probably would love having two extra playoff games -- what a fool. Well, double darn gosh! What's wrong with "gosh" dannabbit! (pulling pants to up to my waist.)
  5. Friday: Cain chokes up three [count 'em], THREE HRs, fer crissakes! Giants lose. Saturday: Barry "Headcase" Zito walks in not one, but TWO runs...in October? How is that even possible? I can't WAIT until his contract is up. He's worthless. Giants lose. Sunday: Latos, the Padres stud muffin, is on the mound. The Giants will crap out on this one, too. You watch. Giants lose again. Monday: Tie-breaker, and in San Diego. Perfect. Just shoot me now. Go Phillies, goddamit! They are the Giants only hope to make it in as the NL Wildcard. To say I am pissed would be a GROSS understatement. All that work for nothing. GRRRRRR!!! Sanchez is going for the Giants. Gosh, you never know what you're going to get when he's on the mound -- he can be light outs, or gone by the bottom of the second, he's the Sybil of the staff. Bochy better have that bullpen warming up from the first pitch. It would be a huge bummer if the Giants don't even make the playoffs, what a crazy final weekend for the NL.
  6. Off the MLB site. It's still kind of confusing...
  7. From an ESPN story today: Bobby Cox was given a 2010 Lexus LS460 from the Braves and an 11-night cruise from his players in a ceremony before Atlanta's game against the Phillies on Saturday. Hope it came with an alarm clock to wake him up...
  8. On October 7, the Noble Prize in Literature will be announced. I'm getting a feeling in my bones that Thomas Pynchon will be named. I have no reason to think this, but it's just a hunch. Philip Roth would be nice also.... The betting line
  9. Happy birthday Rod! Hope you have a great one.
  10. Very disappointed in Matt Cain last night, I thought he would come up big, and pitch a good game -- he got hammered. From what I gather, if the Padres sweep, the Braves are out, no matter what they do.
  11. Giants are already down 4-0, and they're just into the bottom of the third. It doesn't look good right now for SF....
  12. Of course, I'm all on tenterhooks to see if the Mariners can reach their magic number of a 100 loss season. I have faith that my boys can lose the 2 of 3 that's needed, if not get swept this weekend. Go Mariners!
  13. All the Giants need to do is win one game, and they're in. The way San Diego is collasping, looks like tomorrow night will do it.
  14. The criteria for the RHOF is whoever Jann Wenner likes, gets in...
  15. I'm afraid I think Dr. John & Donovan would be good choices. Think Dr. John's tribute to Duke Ellington is all kinds of wonderful.
  16. Scrubs: The Complete and Final Ninth Season. What can I say? I loved Scrubs.
  17. I really think the Giants, with their pitching and improved offense, have a great chance of going all the way. Brian Wilson needs to be a little bit more steady, or maybe pitch less five out saves, Bochy might be over pitching Wilson. Still, I've like the Giants from the start, and I don't see any reason to change at this point. Giants in the World Series.
  18. Perfect summation of the Mariners' year -- it just flat-out sucked.
  19. I love how the Mariners are killing the Yankees, and they aren't even playing them.
  20. Living in the good ol' Inland Empire has its drawbacks, don't it?
  21. 103 right now, which means in a hour, it will probably be 106 -- Yuck.
  22. Real Jazz in the only station on Sirius/XM that plays "straight ahead" jazz. There is Water Colors, which is the smooth jazz station, and Spa, playing "Windham Hill" type of stuff. The other station that I listen to for jazz is 40s on 4, that station play big band music from the thirties and forties, and is very good. I love having Satellite Radio, as I drive a lot, and I'm able to listen clearly to any station wherever I am (I love to listen to baseball games when I drive). I also have it set up where I can play it through my stereo system at home. I've enjoyed that so much, I canceled my Direct TV subscription.
  23. Bud Selig is open to expanding the playoffs. Why can't this guy just retire, he's ruining the game of baseball with his stupidity... Article here
  24. This is ridiculous, is 4:45 p.m., and it's 101
  25. I went ahead and pre-ordered it off Amazon, I'm looking forward to the cd, the line up is promising.
