  1. Great news that his heath seems to be better, every show I've seen him do has been nothing but outstanding. I know it sounds strange, but he strikes me as very "musical," by that I mean he has an innate sense of what he wants to play. I know I'm not describing it too well, but it's like the feeling I get listening to Thad Jones, it's the sound of an artist that has the sixth sense about music. Anyway, $75.00 is out of my league, I'd love to see him play again, but I rejoice that he's out and about.
  2. What the holy heck? NFL on Saturday again? Good thing I set my weekend picks last night, I didn't even realize there were games on today. I can't have Moose win that easy!
  3. I'm cooking Cornish Game Hen for Christmas dinner, plus a whole mess of other stuff.
  4. I think I've run through those three times now, foolishly getting rid of them each time so I have to rebuild the set when the urge hits again. I'm back up to twenty-three... I guess that's what the Kindle was made for......... They're made for Kindle, they have become my stress-busters books. Amazon had a big Perry Mason Kindle sale, so I bought about 30 books for $1.99 each.
  5. What in the heck is up with the Sand Diego Padres??? I'm so used to them being a sleepy, boring team, that I don't think I can handle them being.... interesting?? is that really a word to use for the Padres now????
  6. The Case of the Haunted Husband by Erle Stanley Gardner. I'm finding the Perry Mason novels very entertaining, I have 43 of them on my Kindle.
  7. I should've given up on the 49ers a long time ago, I'm kicking myself over that pick, you would think I'd learned my lesson when I picked them to win in Denver. That means I chose the 49ers to win in Denver AND Seattle! Edit: To clean up some awful grammar, geesh!
  8. Isn't Canyon close to St. Mary's College, Moraga? That is a isolated place if so...
  9. Call me Mr. Skepticism, but every time there's more than an inch of rain in either L.A. or The Bay Area, these "Storm Watches" on TV get ridiculous. Still driving to the Sacramento Delta tomorrow morning, and driving back in the night. BTW: Is it the Bay Area, or The Bay Area? Which is proper?
  10. Don't do anything, hate exercise, but I need to start doing something --- way overweight right now.
  11. Scary week! I can't remember so many road favorites in a long time -- that always means trouble...
  12. Alterity. Use in sentence: To do some work is to go the way which leads into alterity. Wikipedia says: It is a philosophical term meaning "otherness", strictly being in the sense of the other of two (Latin alter). In the phenomenological tradition it is usually understood as the entity in contrast to which an identity is constructed, and it implies the ability to distinguish between self and not-self, and consequently to assume the existence of an alternative viewpoint. Which clarifies absolutely nothing!
  13. Not too on board with Allen, but totally enthusiastic about having Luis Tiant in the HofF.
  14. I've been watching this clip for a couple of days now, and it just seems that so many things come together is such a casual way, the music, the dancing, the sound, the look of the set, especially the directing, that it's an amazing testament of "art" emerging from the most unlikely places. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP9Xc9Nq4YU
  15. I, also thought the Vikings were "just that bad," that I put them down for a loss automatically. The one pick I've been kicking myself about is the 49ers over the Broncos, I mean, Denver never losses early games at home, just playoff games. Because of that, I'm looking at the rear end of a moose!
  16. Worse. Week. EVER! Has anyone ever gone under .500 for the week? Geesh...
  17. Was in Berkeley when it happened, I remember people in the streets right afterwards, and the smoke you could see across the Bay Area.
  18. Still cool as ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX4R8xvJazE&index=108&list=PLU1rqYa1p7zEv4XwBhnpbjqYa2XJQ6v-4
  19. So much for Price & Lester "insuring" their teams to the League Championships. I can't think of two bigger flops of a trade getting so much ink, and so little in return.
  20. As a Giants fan, I was happy to see Williams take Zimmermann out -- I thought it was a stupid move then, and there's no reason to change my mind. Just as a baseball fan, I really hate it when a manager sole reason to take a dominate pitcher out, when he's not tired or struggling, with one out to go, and the reason given is: "That's how I always do it." Try thinking a bit before you make the move.
