  1. I'd take Evens too, vastly underrated. Belle is tainted by being a jerk, but he wouldn't be the first one in the HofF.
  2. Cosmas or the Love of God by Pierre De Calan.
  3. Sad news indeed, an enjoyable and good musician, I happen to dig Sun Goddess very much. RIP
  4. Benny Goodman - St. Louis Blues.
  5. Bumping an old thread is right! it even has Shawn (wonder what happened to him and if he's still in LA) and AfricaBrass in it. Haven't thought about PT in ages, though one of the best rock shows I ever went to was PT in Seattle, it was great. I'll have to take a listen to the new one to see what it's like. Still maintain that Signify is their best album, but maybe I'll revisit some and see what I think of them now. Erik, you were the first to talk about them here, it all seems ages ago.
  6. The Gary McFarland Orchestra with Bill Evans. I love this one so much..
  7. Echo and the Bunnymen: What Are You Going To Do With Your Life? With all the EATB that's being listinged to, it caused me to break out my all-time favorite Bunnymen album. I know some fans find it a dull one, but I love it to death.
  8. +100,000,000 I love this one, it ends with a fantastic version of "Ocean Rain".
  9. "More Than A Women" has such a great feel to it, he did a great job.
  10. Saturday Night Fever Sound Track. Been loving this for 45 years!
  11. Benny Goodman & Helen Forrest:The Original Recordings of 1940's
  12. In one of those small towns just north of Napa. If you're into wine, it's wine heaven; where I live, we're surrounded by vineyards of Far Neinte, Mondavi and Opus One. Supposedly, the land is part of the best place in the world for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
  13. 1980s Music videos, the more weird, the better.
  14. It was a searing high of 116 today. California is weather crazy right now. I was 115 yesterday, and it will be above 100 until Saturday. Ugh!
  15. The Jazz Crusaders: Freedom Sound
  16. Thanks for posting, I've been listening to this the past couple of days and it's very good.
  17. Continuing the tangent: Dylan's "Love and Theft" (famous also for being released on 9/11/2001) is one of his top five albums, a stone-cold classic.
  18. I agree! It's become my favorite Chandler novel, it has so many layers of emotion to it, that with each read, I discover different things. Though, I can't seem to get the image of Jim Bouton as Terry Lennox out of my mind, Darn you Altman! (and I have an intense dislike of the movie).
  19. The Long Goodbye by Raymond Chandler.
  20. Anyone have thoughts on this one? Been listening to the Sacred Concerts lately and I've grown to appreciate them immensely: Duke Ellington: A Spiritual Biography
  21. Miss Helen Forrest: "Voice of the Name Bands"
  22. Count Basie: The Complete Atomic Basie
  23. Whenever the Giants are on Apple TV+, I turn off the sound and listen to music, it's the worst announcing team I've ever heard. The Giants pre /post game show announcer come close in awfulness, which is a shame as they use to have great teams in their hey-day. Both are examples of baseball trying to be hip and youth orientated, which never works. You're not going to get younger by throwing a bunch of stats at people and expecting to attract anyone. MLB leadership flat-out hate the game. Sorry, turned into an Old-Geezer-Get-Off-My-Lawn-Rant!
  24. The Epic: Kamasi Washington. A minority opinion here, but I really like this one.
