  1. Got How the West was Won today, and as was said before, it is a totally killer cd. Great sound, and Jimmy Page plays like a true guitar god on this one. Fantastic buy at $19.00 for three cd's (Verve, take note!). Only thing missing was the old 1960's lp admonition "For best sound PLAY LOUD!" Rock on forever Led Zeppelin.
  2. catesta Posted on May 28 2003, 02:11 PM In the name of musicboy, I beg of you to leave it. One of my threads might be censored! Now I know how Greg felt! PS: I did it!!!!
  3. Do you remember when Kirk defeated that insane computer on Star Trek using essentially the same method...? It's nice to know I finally made my mark. PS: I still can't do it though.
  4. Infinity + 1 SUGAR!
  5. Man, I must be listening to too much Led Zeppelin!
  6. I hope I have it??
  7. Jackie MacLean's "Soft Blue". I play that at least six times in a row when I have the Mosiac playing.
  8. Getting father away now
  9. well... I'm getting closer
  10. 1, 2, 3... B) Mathew, the problem most of us have is NOT "quoting within the quote"! Anyway, all you do is "quote" an entire post by hitting the quote link in that post. Then neglect to delete anything, and there you have it! What "it" is, we're not sure. 1, 2, 3... B) Do I dare... 4th
  11. Best all-time Los Angeles bands. 1. The Byrds 2. The Doors 3. X 4. Love Just thought you'd like to know. PS: How could I forget The Knack!
  12. Do you quote within a quote?? You know, those multi-box quotes. I must be stupid because this has become one of the great mysteries of life for me. Please enlighten me!
  13. Led Zeppelin on a human scale? That's the second sacrilege that has now appeared in this thread!
  14. Zep II, of course. Every hardrock lick you've heard for the past thirty years can be found there. Bring it on home, indeed! THE MIGHTY ZEP RULES DUDE!! B)
  15. I think there will come a time when the jazz cd market will be made of 90% reissues. With music programs in Elementry & High Schools drying up, who, in the future will be able to play this music? Where will the new talent come from? Maybe Europe will become the creative nexus in the coming years, since they still teach music to kids. An added factor is, frankly, it's just too damn expensive to maintain a cd buying habit. I would be willing to take more chances on artists I don't know at $11.00 a pop, but not when list is commonly now at $18.99. It really is a bad sign when a city like San Francisco now has not one single jazz club! Being a jazz fan can be a downer at times.
  16. After years of looking, I finally found of copy of Bobby Hutcherson: Live at Montreux at my local used cd store for $6.50. Nice cd, even Woody Shaw is good on it (he is not one of my favs by any means). To think, I had given up on ever finding this at a decent price.

    HA!

    ***Three stars***
  18. Put me down as one of those who feel three stars is the right grade. None of the titles excites me in any manner, and they are not the first ones I reach for when I have some free listening time.
  19. Anyone have the Bennie Green Mosaic? I have all the material except for the Ike Quebec session & the 45's. So, is the sound improved over the TOCJ's of Green? I might be worth the money just to hear Jug & Green "singing" together, in remastered sound. Opinions on the set greatly appreciated.
  20. Well, on a former jazz board, I went by the name JuJu for most of the time. I chose that name because when I signed up, Wayne Shorter's JuJu was playing on my computer. Then I decided that after over two years I would take the step of using my real first name. I felt that comfy with the people there. When I did, the boad closed down! Sorry, I know it was my fault. When I signed on here, I debated whether to use something different, JuJu, or Matthew. Decided on Matthew after all -- it just doesn't sound right to be called JuJu. Plus people like Ed, Lon, Chris, et.al., were a good example to follow. PS: I feel just as comfy with the people here.
  21. I've been turning my amp & cdp on in the morning, then at night, turn it off. I've been toying with the idea of leaving it on 24/7, but I have visions of a Big Bang! followed by fire. My system is in my bedroom, so I'm still trying to get my nerve up to leave the system on.
  22. Original because it takes better microwaved the next day. Warmed up crispy just tastes nasty!
  23. One of the things you need to be aware of is that you will need to buy a phono-amp for your system, and that will cost about $100. My rig is close to yours, (NAD 320BEE, NAD 341i cdp, Dynaudio Audience 52 speakers) and I bought a MMF 2.1 that is a very good entry level turntable. Mine cost $300, but if you can afford a 5.1 or 7.1, get one because that are supposed to be great. I'm in the process of saving my money for the 7.1 since I like my present turntable so much.
