Sorry to hear that, but understand it. Not sure how they will keep players ready for injury replacements, etc.I read somewhere the thinking is each big league team has its full forty man roster active and there will be games with the scrubs to keep them in shape. though, again, what to do with injuries is a big problem. IMHO, just cancel the season -- of course, I can say that, but for the players, they do need to make money for themselves and their families. This whole thing has to be tough on athletes (I know, it's not like death), but a player has only so many years to make money, and this season is gone.
PS: MLB might do the hockey thing and name the players eligible for that day's game.

This one's a great compilation. The original version pictured above packaged the 4 CDs in a book - it's out of print now, but has been reissued in a regular jewel case minus the book.

I had forgotten this one, and it's great! ReckBeat is a very good label, and this is a quality set.

It's the year after the Bud Harrelson / Pete Rose dust-up in the playoffs. So, I'm in the left field bleachers in San Diego and the crowd is on Rose, who is playing left field, for the entire game, I mean non-stop, full-bore, unrelenting, calling him everything under the sun. Bottom of the ninth, and, of course the Padres are losing, the final out is a fly ball to left, Rose catches it, turns around to the bleachers, and flips everyone off. Of course, now he would have probably been suspended with a fine. Then, everyone laughed.

"Gammon" as slang. Is this only a UK thing?

A bunch of music from my long lost youth on YouTube, the most recent song:

Half because I love the song, the other half for the memories it conjures of growing up in San Diego where Endless Summer was a mainstay in the theaters.
Dig this one because it's a badass song

Can I safely assume that the Bobby Fuller of "El Paso Rock" is the same Bobby Fuller who had a hit with this song?
The very same, and Bobby Fuller is in one of my all time favorite rock video:

Release date May 15:
Recorded in May 2015 in San Diego, CA, this is one of the last recording of the extraordinary clarinet player Perry Robinson, a musician that since the 60s has been considered a staple of the NY avant-garde scene. Not only he also had more traditional collaboration with musicians like the Brubeck's, Tony Scott and many other. Hi was one of the columns of the Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra, a sideman with Don Cherry, Gato Barbieri, John Fisher. In this CD in duo with percussionist, electronic experiments artist Andrea Centazzo once again he cross the genres from extremely inventive sound scapes to hunting melodies all improvised in 2 days session.
Great album, I also love The Soul in the Mist

Despite the title, discussion of baseball is minimal and near the end of the piece, but fans of the now 99-year-old Roger Angell will no doubt find much of interest in this fascinating interview with him, including a priceless anecdote about Joseph Mitchell.
BASEBALL, FICTION, AND LIFE: ROGER ANGELL’S ERA-SPANNING CAREER AT THE NEW YORKER
Thanks for the article, enjoyed it immensely. I often thought the fiction editors at The New Yorker were really the major influences in American fiction for decades.
