  1. Mine arrived today, 4918, and been playing disk one. Must say it sounds wonderful to my ears, and I'm glad I finally listened to eveyone and pulled the trigger on this set.
  2. Doesn't seem available for pre-order yet. At least I couldn't hook up with CD Universe.
  3. Actually, I’ve been experiencing a renewed enthusiasm for jazz lately. It seems for the past year and a half I couldn’t get too interested in jazz, bought mostly rock stuff, but now I’m back to jazz. When I purchased the Mosaic singles and the JJ box, it was my way of telling myself that I’m back in the jazz fold. The Verve Billie Holliday set is getting a lot of play right now. I'm also digging everything by Joe Pernice, just think he's a vastly underrated rock musician.
  4. Thanks for the notice for the book; I'm becoming very interested in photography concerning the "between the wars" era in Europe and also the Veimar Republic. Have any suggestions on who would be worth looking into besides Salomon?
  5. Still hasn't arrived yet Must be using Pony Express on this one.....
  6. The one I really enjoy is Lee Wiley and Bobby Hackett, their stuff on the Condon Mob Mosaic is very nice, to say the least.
  7. Any Samuel Beckettfans here? Anyone have Samuel Beckett: Grove Centenary Edition, it's a four volume set that has Beckett's works and I'm wondering if I should take the plunge or not.
  8. King: Thanks for the Erich Salomon pictures
  9. Went to get the Wes Montgomery, since it might not be around next month, wound up buying more *sigh*. Red Holloway: Coast To Coast Elmo Hope: Trio And Quintet (Remastered) Jimmy Raney: Jimmy Raney Featuring Bob Brookmeyer (Remastered) Wes Montgomery: Full House (Remastered)
  10. Lucky people from back east, I'm still waiting for mine -- also waiting for the singles....
  11. Thanks a 1,000,000 . BTW, geat show on Nina last week.
  12. Young Mr. Lincoln is so tempting....... John Ford & Henry Fonda, it's sooooo tempting........
  13. Wes Montgomery: Smokin' at the Holf Note. My first Montgomery cd.
  14. Eric Ambler: Cause for Alarm. Must say I was rather disappointed with this one; Ambler put together the elements for a great crime novel here: good characters, challenging situation, pre-WWII, but then does nothing with them, they just kind of hang around until the end. Mark this one as a great book missed because Ambler didn't take any chances here, just played it safe.
  15. Month after month, that Simone program is in the top 5 list of most-hits for archived Night Lights shows. "Here Comes the Sun: Nina Simone on RCA" is now archived. As well as it should, you put together an outstanding program for the first one -- I'll be sure to make time tomarrow to listen to the new one. Great show! Didn't know she wrote a song with Langston Hughes. You just cost me money as I went over to Yourmusic.com and ordered all the cds they have for her.

  17. Doesn't look like it, received word this morning that the set is being mailed today.
  18. Talk about karma! I'm listening to your first radio program about Nina Simone now! Spooky
  19. A 50 cent piece will give you much better sound, cheap-skate!
  20. My system: Tuner: NAD c420 Digital Front End: Denon 2910 & NAD c541i Amplification: NAD C 320BEE Speaker System: Dynaudio Audience 52 It works well for me since I don't listen to music in a large room. The speakers are very good, and for some reason, brass instruments sound cystal clear. I bought the Denon about six months ago and I use it mostly for SACDs, though, if I had it to do over again, I think I should have stayed with just the NAD c541i, which is an excellent on redbook & HDCD. SACDs are nice, but the price is so high I don't buy that many.
  21. I decided to order the J.J. set this morning, my first Mosaic box set purchase in three years. After three years of buying nothing from Mosaic, this week I bought all the singles and now this one. Yikes! What's happening to me.
  22. Well, I closed my eyes and ordered all of these this morning. I really like the idea behind the "Mosaic Single CD" idea, gives Mosaic a lot of flexibility in what they can release. Now, if they would start to release some of Braxton's Arista records, now that would be great.
  23. I always find Old such an interesting song, it has an unique quality that is hard to describe -- it's one of Mitchell's best works. Come to think about it, Oh Susanna is another take on the old/new angle that is hard to beat.
