  1. Bringing this thread up and deleting the one I started -- thought I did a search and couldn't find anything on the upcoming season. That's what happens when you get old. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what happens when Oden gets scoped tomorrow.
  2. Is the three cd version of Piper worth getting? It has mono/stereo versions and the thrird cd has singles for the era. Anyone have it here? Opinions?
  3. The day after, you can download the concert off 10,000 websites. I'd pay money for a cd of this though, just for old times sake.
  4. Has nothing to do with nothing: Kisscam from the Cubs vs. Diamondback game. edit: new link
  5. I love how the "winning bidder" has bought nothing but metal/hard rock cds before winning this auction.
  6. Who knows? It could be a sense of "what is there left to say?" I know I'm getting to that point. There not much more I can say about the musicians that love, so I wind up spending most of my time talking about baseball, and posting in What I'm Listening to Right Now? and it's starting to get old, and has been for awhile....
  7. Good Grief! The Mariners lose again... This from the AP account of the game: Mariners starter Horacio Ramirez allowed five runs in 1 2/3 innings as Seattle lost for the 14th time in 16 games, among the worst falls by a contending team in September over the last half-century. This is bad.....
  8. As Dr. Elliot Reed would say: Frick on a stick! The Mariners are road kill now. How I hate it when your team is in the role of "spoiler" in September
  9. The Complete Verve Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band Sessions. Disk three.
  10. Well, its good to know that Trot's decline didn't stop in Cleveland so no one can say that they should have re-signed him. The thing with Drew is, I don't have a problem with his seeming "indifference". I don't need players to wear their heart on their sleeve to know that they "care" or are truly pissed off when they fail in a clutch situation. He was taught as a kid not to get emotional. Fine. And it doesn't even bother me that he's had a few little nagging injuries that have kept him out of the lineup occasionally. What amazes me is that he has been mostly healthy all season, and yet he's hitting so terribly. I don't know what to expect next year - a big comeback because he's now familiar with AL pitchers ... or will he instead have one of those injuries that keeps him out for three months? But whatever happens then, I would never have predicted that Drew would be healthy in 2007 & hit under .260 and slug under .400. Don't worry about JD. Now that Boston's safely out in front, he'll turn it on and get some decent stats, and then the Redsox Nation will be all excited: "JD is on a roll, he's gonna kill in the play-offs!" Then you'll get to watch JD go 5 for 40 in the play-offs. Here's what you can always expect from JD: Gutless play in any situation. The Padres staff is hurting right now, but I still like to give a shout-out to my hometown every now and then.
  11. I hate to admit it but it looks like it's Boston's to lose this year. The one team from the NL who could give them trouble would be the Padres with their pitching, but they might not even get into the playoffs. PS: The less said about the Mariners at this point, the better...
  12. . Now, it's going to be stupid cold if you get a Mets vs. Red Sox World Series. Actually, the more I think of this schedule, with the World Series possibly going into November, the more I like it. This way, I can pretend that football season never started, and just transition smoothly into basketball. Holy Guacamole, I'm already sick of hearing about football.

  14. Dan: This is what I got of the MLB website: Major League Baseball announces revamped postseason schedule 2007 World Series to begin on Wednesday, Oct. 24; Format includes off-days for flexibility Major League Baseball announced its schedule for the 2007 postseason today. The 2007 World Series is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 24th. The World Series will continue to follow a 2-3-2 format, meaning that off-days will be scheduled on the ensuing Friday and Tuesday. FOX Sports will broadcast the 103rd World Series. The 2007 postseason will begin on Wednesday, October 3rd, with three of the four Division Series in play. One of the two American League Division Series will begin on Thursday, October 4th. Any decisive fifth game of a Division Series will now be preceded by an off-day. All Division Series games, which will continue to follow a 2-2-1 format, will predominantly be airing on TBS with additional games on sister network TNT. The National League Championship Series, to be broadcast by TBS, is scheduled to start on Thursday, October 11th, with the American League Championship Series beginning the following day, Friday, October 12th on FOX. Each series will continue to follow a 2-3-2 format. "Major League Baseball is pleased to make these amendments to the postseason schedule," said MLB President & Chief Operating Officer Bob DuPuy. "Starting the World Series in the middle of the week, when television viewership is historically higher, will provide more fans with the opportunity to watch the games. The additional off-days throughout the postseason will give us greater flexibility to facilitate travel and protect against poor weather." 2007 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL POSTSEASON SCHEDULE Series Date Network NLDS A Game 1 Wed., Oct. 3 TBS NLDS B Game 1 Wed., Oct. 3 TBS ALDS B Game 1 Wed., Oct. 3 TBS NLDS A Game 2 Thurs., Oct. 4 TBS NLDS B Game 2 Thurs., Oct. 4 TBS ALDS A Game 1 Thurs., Oct. 4 TBS ALDS A Game 2 Fri., Oct. 5 TBS ALDS B Game 2 Fri., Oct. 5 TBS NLDS A Game 3 Sat., Oct. 6 TBS NLDS B Game 3 Sat., Oct. 6 TBS ALDS A Game 3 Sun., Oct. 7 TBS/TNT ALDS B Game 3 Sun., Oct. 7 TBS/TNT NLDS A Game 4 Sun., Oct. 7 TBS/TNT NLDS B Game 4 Sun., Oct. 7 TBS/TNT ALDS A Game 4 Mon., Oct. 8 TBS ALDS B Game 4 Mon., Oct. 8 TBS NLDS A Game 5 Tues., Oct. 9 TBS NLDS B Game 5 Tues., Oct. 9 TBS ALDS A Game 5 Wed., Oct. 10 TBS ALDS B Game 5 Wed., Oct. 10 TBS NLCS Game 1 Thurs., Oct. 11 TBS NLCS Game 2 Fri., Oct. 12 TBS ALCS Game 1 Fri., Oct. 12 FOX ALCS Game 2 Sat., Oct. 13 FOX NLCS Game 3 Sun., Oct. 14 TBS ALCS Game 3 Mon., Oct. 15 FOX NLCS Game 4 Mon., Oct. 15 TBS ALCS Game 4 Tues., Oct. 16 FOX NLCS Game 5 Wed., Oct. 17 TBS ALCS Game 5 Thurs., Oct. 18 FOX NLCS Game 6 Fri., Oct. 19 TBS ALCS Game 6 Sat., Oct. 20 FOX NLCS Game 7 Sat., Oct. 20 TBS ALCS Game 7 Sun., Oct. 21 FOX WS Game 1 Wed., Oct. 24 FOX WS Game 2 Thurs., Oct. 25 FOX WS Game 3 Sat., Oct. 27 FOX WS Game 4 Sun., Oct. 28 FOX WS Game 5 Mon., Oct. 29 FOX WS Game 6 Wed., Oct. 31 FOX WS Game 7 Thurs., Nov. 1 FOX Looks like they added two off days for the play-offs, keeping the World Series the same format.
  15. And what is amazing is that the Cardinals are only a game behind. I wonder if any team in that division will finish over .500.
  16. BTW: Can you have anything but "multiple kittens?
  17. Perusing my baseball websites, Cardinal fans are having multiple kittens over the Rick Ankiel taking HGH story. Sucks when you build someone up to be Roy Hobbs to the nth degree. Well, I'm sure we'll be hearing 1,000,000 excuses for Ankiel on this one.
  18. Even without the death of The Mighty John Bonham, they were played out. In Through The Out Door had its moments, but overall, it wasn't much. I'd agree with Hot Stuff that anything by Page or Plant has been pretty damn weak since then. Though I keep hearing that Page has seem to have gotten his act together recently, but call skeptical on that score....
  19. Yeah, pretty ugly performance by the bullpen, but not surprising since they've been worn out this season. Think getting blown-out like that put the final nail in coffin of play-off chances.
  20. Like the news about Help!, probably will be getting the deluxe box.
  21. Not quite as sanguine about Ramirez vs. Wang, but a sweep would be very nice indeed, but taking two of three would be just as good. Taht would leave the Mariners coming out of NY only a game behind in the Wild Card. Well, I think you need to make a statement and come out of there with the lead but on the plus side, after Wednesday, the Yankees will have just 7 games left at home and 15 on the road, and they are under .500 away from the Bronx. That should help the M's provided they make yet another big bounce back from an extended losing streak. I have to say it would be funny if Steve Phillips ends up being right. Some idiot on Foxsports.com, Kevin Hench, was actually stupid enough to refer to him as "Steve 'Zambrano for Kazmir' Phillips". Amazing that it slipped past the editor considering that Phillips had been gone from the Mets organization for like a year and a half before that trade was made. I agree that the Yankees are in trouble right now. Their pitching continues to stink, and ARod seems to have cooled off recently. Sounds like Clemens will be gone for awhile, and Mussina looked terrible yesterday, had nothing on any of his pitches. Added to all this is the fact that George Steinbrenner seems to be slipping into Alzheimer's (if the rumors are true), it's just not looking good for the Yanks this year.
  22. Disk two now. The Nappy LaMare stuff is very nice. Up to disk five now, The Cootie Williams sessions which, for me, are one of the highlights of the whole box. Great music.
  23. Not quite as sanguine about Ramirez vs. Wang, but a sweep would be very nice indeed, but taking two of three would be just as good. Taht would leave the Mariners coming out of NY only a game behind in the Wild Card.
  24. Easy win today, about time the Mariners got a w. Maybe even a sweep.....
