  1. Good news: I was finally able to find a copy of Moonloop for a reasonable price after looking for a long time. I ignored Aggie's advice to pre-order when it came out, and I wound up out of the loop when I wanted it. I hope it's good.
  2. I must be a Scrooge because I haven't put up Christmas decorations where I live for six years now, and I'm very happy for it. A nice, Christmas Free Zone, to get away from the incessant stuff out there.
  3. SUN RA: Complete Detroit Jazz Center Residency. 28 cdr box set -- now this should be interesting.
  4. Network buffering is relevant for playback of audio that is streamed to your computer via network (internet, LAN, etc.) and does have nothing to do with burning CD-Rs. I was talking about CD burning programs; WMP, as far as I know, is first and foremost a media player with limited burning capabilities (I never used WMP). That's why I posted the link to that free of charge burning software in my first post. Its features suggest that it could be a decent and useful program for Windows users who don't want to buy software. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I'm a total doofus when it comes to this kind of stuff.
  5. I don't know why you're trying to make this so difficult. If, for whatever reason, you'd like to join tracks -> join them with an audio editor. But why should one want to lose the convenience of being able to select specific tracks? In most burning programs the procedure to burn audio tracks without the 2" gap looks like this: * Import tracks you want to burn * Highlight tracks you don't want to have 2 sec of silence at beginning * Right click one of those tracks -> select properties * Set time between tracks to 0 So, for WMP, if you go to the "more options" from the burn cd window, then go to "performance" and put zero in the "network buffering," that will take care of the gaps between cuts? PS: Forgot to mention the right clicky thing didn't do anything for me in WMP.
  6. No, they've been floating around for years. Someone who bulked up as much as Clemens did in his thirty's is going raise suspicions.
  7. I had the some problem when using WMP to burn my Dead downloads, that two second gap. I use Real Player now for that because you can program out the gap between songs. I would assume it would also work for you case.
  8. That's a ridiculous comment, though I've certainly come to expect it. Edmonds is so far past his prime he needs a pair of binoculars to get a glimpse. I have to admit Dan, sometimes it's very hard not to give to at least nudge you from time to time -- it's harmless Bro. Of course it is. As Deep would say, CLASP!

  10. Looks like Jim Edmonds is going to the Padres for a minor leaguer and ca$h. Too bad it isn't the Edmonds of even three years ago. Now, Edmonds is veering towards the JD Drew Zone.
  11. Spoken like a true Yankee, oops, I mean Red Sox fan.
  12. What's up with that Winterland '73 box that was supposedly in the works 18 months ago.......when the pre-order page was mistakenly put up on the Dead site by a staffer only to quickly get yanked? Not a peep outta them since..... I'm waiting for that rather than drop $600+ on this one. http://www.deaddisc.com/disc/Winterland_19..._Recordings.htm Supposedly, the rumor is that it's coming our early next year. It should be good, I just listened to the soundboards from that Winterland run last week -- first night was nothing to write home about, but the next two were outstanding.
  13. Either "exhaustion" or "flu-like symptoms." Seriously though, I hope she's okay, and gets healthy again.
  14. Looks like the next Road Trip will also be a comp. Hmmm, I'll give it a chance.... This is from Steve Silberman, responding to critics of RT on Dead.net. > Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but there are so many great shows out there, why put out bits and pieces? Sorry to burst your bubble of devastation with very sweet news, rdevil, but as Blair wrote a little farther up: "Don’t worry, there will definitely still be full-show releases. We’ll have more on that soon." --- So finally Rhino has gotten off its butt and is opening the floodgates, to both whole shows and compilations like this. Everyone up there knows that most hardcore Deadheads prefer whole shows, and Rhino's whole trip is delivering what passionate music geeks want. But there is also a place for a series like this, of discs where one track after another was the peak of that week, or that run, or that tour. Compliations are easy to dis in theory, but when these discs are on, they will peel the paint off your walls. I just finished writing notes for #2 in the series, and it's blistering. Plus, these discs sound great. > No more Dicks Picks! What 's truly tragic is "No more Dick!" I miss the cranky old beautiful so-and-so yelling at me through a cloud of sweet smoke to STOP FUTZING WITH TRYING TO READ THE TAPE CASES AND LISTEN! But why should Rhino call something a "Dick's pick" that Dick didn't pick? But Dick built a huge map of whole shows in his notebooks that will be guiding David Lemieux and Jeffrey Norman for years. For his friends, Dick made another kind of pick: mixed tapes. His mixes were insane and delicious, wildly mixing eras -- a '78 Scarlet > Fire followed by Pigpen, even spacy onstage chatter, favoring performances that made you think the speakers were going to burst into flames. That's the spirit of these releases, and by focusing on individual tours or runs, the music has show-like coherence -- Lemieux told me he thought of these as "dream sets." Steve Silberman http://www.levity.com/digaland Not sure if I like where this is going. But it will be interesting to see what the new box set will be, and how they handle that.
  15. Actually, I found the baseball in the "Steroid Era" to be dull, it was like everyone was playing in the Earl Weaver style, and that didn't cut it for me. Warning Old Geezer Talk: It think the best baseball quality was how the game was played in the 1980s. You had power and speed, great players that had yet to bulk up -- it was a wonderful game to watch way back when. Let me pull my pants up to my arm pits now...
  16. Speaking of Donna, a very nice interview on Dead.net that's worth reading.
  17. The only music that made it's way out, (as of right now) is the aud of Zeppelin's part. Funny story, someone posted on the comment section of Dime of that aud recording that they went to see Squire/Emerson, and then left right afterward and never saw LZ. Kids!
  18. I've been going back-and-forth about this box for a year now. I have the SBDs of the shows, and they do sound very good to my ears. Plus, I know that Norman likes to "fiddle" with the music at times, but still, the completist in me would like to have a set -- there are limits though of what I would do to get one. But, you're right, I haven't heard the music so it does give me food for thought.
  19. Went for $310, which is a good buy right now. There's a promo up for sale now.
  20. Darn, I almost got a Complete Fillmore West off ebay at my limit price -- lost to some last second sniper.
  21. I'm looking for The Grateful Dead Fillmore West 1969 10 CD Box Set, and I'm willing to trade some Mosaics for it. Willing to trade a combination of these Mosaics: J.J. Johnson Anita O'Day Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band Classic Capital Jazz Sessions HRS Sessions The boxes have usual self ware but cds and booklets are in great shape (I do keep care of my stuff). The Dead set also needs to have the bonus cd and be in great condition. PM me if interested. PS: If you could post here first then PM me, that would be great.
