  1. Yeah, you did -- that was a good game. The announcers were awful, but the game was good (Jeff Huson -- he was actually a better infielder than he is announcer). I was pleasantly surprised to see what a good bunter Lee is. He looked right on schedule -- if healthy, he should be a lock for 16 wins. Speaking of announcers: Vin Scully sounds old now. Probably his last year. Hard to believe, I'm 50 and I've been listening to him all my life. LA sports in the 70's was great, Vinny with the Dodgers, Chick with the Lakes, Enberg with the Angles, and Jerry Coleman with the Padres, great sports announcers. And speaking of the Dodgers -- they are a flat out boring team, even with Manny.
  2. Maybe it's time they took a good look at themselves in the mirror. ... I think Derek Jeter is really going struggle this year and last nights WBC game just reinforced the idea for me. The Yankees just don't strike me a a playoff team for some reason. But you know what really sucks? Waking up at 2:00 a.m. for the past three months and not being able to go back to sleep. Stuff like that makes you post on a bulletin board at 3:00 a.m.

  4. You mean floppy? You and Shaqzilla bro......
  5. I know spring training doesn't mean anything, a lot of their players were on WBC teams, and spring training doesn't mean anything, but the Yankees look bad. I don't see how they're going to challenge Boston & Tampa Bay.
  6. how is the sound on this one? some of DPs were pretty flat soundwise. Sound is pretty good. It's a HDCD, so that makes a difference if your system has HDCD capability.
  7. I know there are board members who know Mr. Pullman, so my question is: Is this book still going forward, or has the present economic condition postponed this indefinitely? This in the one jazz book that I'm really looking forward to.
  8. Jimmy Lyons: The Box Set. Disk five: The Jimmy Lyons Quartet. Tufts University, February 12, 1985.
  9. Just my opinion, but going by what I see on ebay for a Mosaic box set, $50.00 per disk would be bottom line.
  10. Japan vs. USA should be an interesting game tonight. The match up of Daisuke Matsuzaka vs. Roy Oswalt is good, Dice K will killer his last start. The early start has really hampered US pitching, but the US team seems to be really into these games, especially after the win over Puerto Rico. The atmosphere will be great at Dodger stadium, probably the number of fans for each will be equal.
  11. King of the Hill. I've become addicted to Adult Swim.
  12. Just when you think people in baseball can't get any dumber, something like this comes up. MLBPA wants charitable clauses out ESPN.com news services The MLB Players' Association has filed a grievance on behalf of players who have a provision in their contracts under which they agree to make a donation through his club to a charitable organization, MLBPA chief operating officer Gene Orza told ESPN's Karl Ravech. The rest of the story...
  13. And she wrote that in her early twenties, no one should write like that so young. It's an amazing book with a lot of unforgettable scenes an images. I'd only read a few of her stories before reading Wise Blood. After reading that one, I'll be reading all of her works. Just have to decompress first. Know what you mean, her books always scare the hell out me also. Where the idea came from that O'Connor writes comedy, I don't know. I've never been to the south, so I have this warped view of the south being like what I read in Faulkner & O'Connor.

  15. I've listened and watched to this about a thousand times this week. Great for for the blues.
  16. Texas A&M vs. UConn. Another bad game, Erik can't be liking what he sees. Is it just me, or are UConn's jerseys very ugly, like some sixth grader made them up on his computer for a class assignment? yuck.
  17. "We came here to play music, not to trade punches!" Ya gotta love Jersey....
  18. UCLA is getting a beat down right now... UCLA is really, really, really, getting hammered today. The game was over after five minutes. One good thing about the college, it's only 40 minutes instead of 48.
  19. Listening to Dick's Picks 31 (8/6/74), and is it ever a wild one, and that disk four is complete killer; Eyes Of The World>Playing In The Band>Scarlet Begonias>Playing In The Band>Uncle John's Band. I would have loved to heard where Eyes Of The World would have gone if the crowd didn't get out of control, even so, it's still one of the best ever.
  20. UCLA is getting a beat down right now...
  21. Dang! The Villanova vs. UCLA game is physical...
  22. Robot Chicken. Man, there is really some twisted stuff on this.
  23. Dinners, Dives, & Drive-ins. I always find this program very enjoyable, and very hunger inducing.
  24. UCLA was lucky to escape with a win, that's for sure. Glad the Washington teams won, it would be nice if Gonzaga had a nice run, or the U of Washington, since their football team was the worst in its history. It looks like there is about 6-8 teams that could win it all, that elite eight is going to be one tough round.
