  1. Damn, tough choice: Von Freeman or the Cubbies? Not one I'd like to make! It looked pretty frosty in Chicago today. I think I'd take indoors, drinking a beer, and listening to Freeman, myself.
  2. Man!! And I just watched his game against the Yankee's on MLB Network's Classic Games this weekend. Sad week for baseball.
  3. Tough week in baseball land.
  4. Oh come on Beckett was not throwing at him i agree with what Dan said. I think the ump was probably saying that the timeout was too late ...In fact they give out waaaay too many time outs tell the batter to get in the box and stay there till they throw the pitch. Also Abreu didn't move usually the batter backs up far from the plate after calling time out. The batter doesn't back away until the ump grants the time out. We're talking about a matter of probably one second between the time the TO was called and the delivery of the pitch. Well you have never seen Julio Lugo call time out he practically runs out of the batters box into the visitors dugout while calling for a timeout !!!!!! Well, Lugo, he should run. I haven't read anything about Beckett being suspended, which is no way warranted, heck this would be a very minor matter if it wasn't for all the ejections. But, you never know, Beckett isn't one of the most popular players in the game -- he's taking over for Curt Schilling in more ways then one.
  5. Sorry, not buying it in the least Looking at what happened, it probably would not have any gotten bigger if the home plate umpire would have handled it better, he seems to have been caught by surprise by everything. Tori Hunter was saying that what got him pissed-off on the field was stuff that the ump was saying. Hummmmmm... that's interesting, I wonder if we'll ever find out what was said.
  6. What in the world was Josh Beckett thinking yesterday? Throwing the ball at Abrau's head like that? I'm surprised by such a classless move by Beckett, he's better than that.
  7. Mariners win a nail biter, 1-0, and Eric Bedard, get this, goes eight innings -- amazing. Your First Place Seattle Mariners.
  8. I was able to buy Extra Innings for the first time this year, and it's been great. The team I follow are the Mariners, I mean the division leading Mariners, and it is very good when it comes to following out of town favorites. For some reason, I've lost any feeling I ever had for the Dodgers, just don't care for them anymore, their games rank way below Seattle's.
  9. Sorry for the passing of your mother. It is amazing at times the lack of support and help some hospital workers are during difficult times.
  10. The update from ESPN: SAN DIEGO -- San Francisco Giants pitcher Joe Martinez has a concussion and three small fractures in his head after being hit by a line drive. The rookie reliever was stable and alert in a San Francisco hospital Friday, and the Giants said the right-hander was expected to make a full recovery. Martinez will remain hospitalized for observation over the next three or four days. Martinez was struck by Mike Cameron's line drive on Thursday night, and sustained hairline fractures on the right side of his face. The accident occurred with two outs in the ninth inning of the Giants' 7-1 win over Milwaukee. The Giants put Martinez on the 15-day disabled list and purchased the contract of right-hander Justin Miller from the minors. That was a scary hit he took...
  11. I might give the Club Nokia a shot, I have no idea where it's at though. When I saw them in Seattle on the last tour, they were amazing. PS: Just Googled it, and it's right next door to Staples Arena.
  12. Crap! Joe Martinez of the Giants took a line drive right in the head! I hope he's okay, he walked off, but he was bleeding big time from head and nose.
  13. Drinking this one today, watching some baseball. I like this a lot also.
  14. Watching the Giant game: 16:9 HDTV is not Prince Fielder's friend!
  15. That is bad. Boy the Angles have had some bad stuff happen to them off-field over the years.
  16. Don't know who your ump was, but Charlie Merriweather has to be the worst ball/strike ump in baseball now, he's brutal.
  17. I know just the thing to cure the Yankees, trade Seattle for Carlos Silva. Believe me, he's a great pitcher.....
  18. I agree with you completely on this one Dan. I was very disappointed at what I saw this morning on MLB Network. I just want highlights as I'm getting ready to start the day, the look-ins to other games were lame and not interesting. If that's what they do all night long, I not going be tuning in all that often. Just do a good one hour highlight show, put that on a loop for the 6a.m. -12noon time slot, and I would be happy. Boy, I still can't believe that Mariner game from last night, but that's the great thing about baseball, no running out the clock.
  19. And the lead highlight was the Mariner loss.....
  20. OH MY GOSH!!! The Mariners absolutely, totally, completely, screwed it up so bad and lost the game. It's way too early to go through a loss like that. I can't even describe it, but I'll put it this way: Bottom of the 9th, Ms ahead 5-3, two outs, count is 3-2, no one on base --- and they lose the game 6-5. I can't believe what I just saw. Brandon Morrow looked like total crap.
  21. Goodspeak can't be happy right now: Tim Lincecum lasted only three innings and look as good as CC looked yesterday. He really needs to work on holding runners on base, the Brewers ran wild on him.
  22. Hey, nice game by the Mariners tonight, Felix Hernandez was lights out. Mariners have the best record in baseball now... And Griffey homers! He's got just a bit o' paunch compared to photos from too many years ago when he was last in a Mariner's uniform. The sight of him in that uni makes me feel younger so I like it! I love how spring fever can throw out all rationality. I mean with Angels elderly OF and injuries to their pitching staff, and the Rangers always have terrible pitching, and maybe injuries will hit the A's hard, so the M's with their improved defense, and Jr. helping to create better dugout chemistry by deflecting the bad feelings about Ichiro, maybe... Yes, sentence structure goes out the window too! I'm going to enjoy first place while it lasts, and sure love having baseball back! Griffey deserves one of these:
  23. My guess is that it will be a split decision (especially on the SH board!) on whether they actually sound better, but they will sound different than what we have now. If your frame of reference is the CDs (as it is for me), I really don't think there is any benefit to getting the remasters. It will just mess with your head. The only Beatles I've heard on LP was Sgt. Pepper's. I'm happy with the sound on the CDs and that's what I listened to all through college, etc. Not saying that this project is an abomination or anything, I just don't see any value for me. I do seriously wonder if Apple is misjudging things though -- I think the target audience here is in their late 50s to 60s, and this group is really starting to wind down its CD buying. No not us on the board or SH Board but we are such outliers it is a little scary. And truly the next generation or two below me (Z?) isn't going to buy anything at all. It will be all torrents all the time. We'll see how well that works out. I guess the major question would be: Will they sound better than the Ebbetts? Though I think even these are overrated... I take it you're aware that the Ebbetts are bootlegs? Just curious Yeah, but it's like The Basement Tapes, if you're looking for the full story, sometimes you have to boot it...

  25. They will. The current versions suck. Now, this is something I have wondered about for years. Maybe I'm just too used to the sound of the present cds, but I find nothing wrong with the current cds. I don't want to get all Hoffmanny on everyone, but will the new mastering sound really better than the old one?
