  1. At least the Phillies got one run back -- let's see if they can hold the Yankees in the top of the 8th.
  2. It's still shocking for me to see Chan Ho Park in anything but a Dodger uniform.
  3. Who can figure out how Geradi manages a game? Did my eyes decieve me, but it looked like Felix could have got that grounder? Yes, he should have. And Chase should have tried to get the runner at first instead of 2nd. Phillies are imploding once again. I mean and it's BS little infield hits. The Yankees haven't hit anything hard since Damon's hit in the first. I'm watching the game off my computer, I can only get the high shot from behind home plate, and Felix had that grounder, but it looked like he thought JRoll was going to get it and pulled off -- he must be kicking himself in the dugout. ARod has been tamed!

  6. Ha! Blanton's got inside ARod's head....
  7. Figures this Buck guy would like Pearl Jam -- loud with nothing to say.
  8. Precious ARod, did you see him complaining to Joe West when he got to second base? If I was a Phillie batter, I'd try my best to get hit by a pitch, and writhe on the ground like some euro soccer player to get CC tossed. There is no way that the Phillies wanted to get more men on base in the first inning.
  9. Yeah, right, the Phillies want to have a lot of men on base in the first inning...
  10. Oh frick-on-a-stick, a discussion on whether pitching after "only" three days rest will kill these Yankee pitchers, geesh, that sould be normal amount of time. I say: go back to the four man rotation.
  11. That is a good commentary, I think that Genesis and Ezekiel are two of the strangest books in the Old Testament -- sometimes I read them and I don't understand a thing, others, it's a life enhancing experience.
  12. Useless Bud has decided that the camera needs to be moved back -- fool! I cannot even begin to describe my disgust over baseball in November, cameras hanging over the field of play, inter-league play, down right crappy umpiring, World Series games played in terrible weather, and most of all, my complete, total, unremitting, disgust with one Commissioner of Baseball: Bud Selig.
  13. Just going off one mono cd, but I was not blown away by the improvement. I'm going to have to wait and listen to the monos a lot more.
  14. I haven't been able to watch one game yet, I'm not too unhappy about that because I just cannot stand the thought of the Yankees buying a Championship this year -- ever and always, to heck with the Yankees!
  15. Just starting to work my way through the mono box, listened to Please Please Me a couple of times and I like the sound very much -- it'll be interesting to hear what the other albums sound like.
  16. Been traveling a lot, still more to go, but the book I've brought with me is the Library of America edition of F. Scott Fitzgerald: Novel and Short Stories 1920 - 1922. I was much more impressed with This Side of Paradise this time, it just struck me in a more powerful manner than the last time I read the book. Flappers and Philospohers -- meh, I could take it or leave it. Getting ready to reread The Beautiful and Damned, which, the last time I read it, I thought was one of the most amoral books by an American writer that I ever held in my hands.
  17. Thanks everyone, for the birthday wishes. I was in meetings until 8:00 p.m. -- there are better ways to celebrate birthdays! A busy travel schedule will keep me from posting too much for another month or so, but that's life. On the plus side, when I get back home, the Beatles mono box will be waiting for me.
  18. Good news from Amazon, they say my mono box should be mailed next week. That will give me something to look forward to coming home to next Saturday!
  19. I think whoever wins the Angles vs. Yankee series, will win it all. That's going to be a great series.
  20. Denver weather: 29!! Who came up with the idea of playing a game @ 8:00 p.m.? Brilliant.
  21. Weather in Denver: 34. Thank you Bud. Just retire already.
  22. Respectfully, I do not feel that this is accurate. While these albums largely helped to usher in the counter culture, there was a perception at the time that the Beatles had hit their peak, and there was even speculation after Revolver that they may split up. Rubber Soul and Revolver may have become legendary in retrospect, but at the time, each was largely viewed as another Beatles album. The notion that rock could be "art" was still a year or two away. There is a fascinating piece in the London Times Sunday supplement from September, 1966 that really provides a sense of how the Beatles were perceived at that time. Is the LT supplement on the web? I can't seem to find it. That would be interesting to read.
  23. That's the thing about baseball -- you can't run out the clock.
