  1. Simulated image of the RAT on the arm of the rover as it grinds a rock target. In order to look at the interior of rocks, a field geologist on Earth uses a rock hammer. On the Athena payload, the job of a rock hammer is done by the RAT -- the Rock Abrasion Tool. The RAT is positioned against a rock by the rover's instrument arm, and uses a grinding wheel to remove dust and weathered rock, exposing fresh rock underneath. The RAT exposes an area nearly 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter, and grinds down to a depth of about 5 mm (0.2 inches).
  2. Somebody is selling a bunch of Mosaics. Larry Young Mosaic This link is for Larry Young, but they have a note saying: "We will be listing more Mosaic Box Sets in the coming weeks. If there is a particular one you are looking for please email us and we will put up an eBay auction." Could be worth an email if there is something you are looking for. ** I have no connection with the seller. **
  3. Is there some hint that it's close to going OOP? I know it's been out there a while.
  4. Back-to-back tunes on disk #4 are killer: - "Coppin' The Haven" - "Tanya"
  5. I used to order lattes, but when they started putting too much milk in them, I switched to cappuccinos. Now I'm finding that they put too much milk in those. So, I've started asking for them "dry" - even though I hate putting too many "qualifiers" on my coffee orders.
  6. Usually non-fat milk.........but just a little bit. Sometimes a double espresso in the afternoon is nice, though. Any kind of sweetener is a BIG no-no.

    BLOW UP on DVD

GREAT! One of my all-time favorite films. How's the "remastering" of the movie, itself? Extra stuff?
  8. I'm getting those email error messages when I try to post (not send an email or PM). It's happened twice tonight...............so far. Just happened again. Here's the message: Mail Error! Could not send the email Failed at 'mail' command
  9. If it's that low, I'm surprised that they haven't placed it on the "Last Chance" list yet.
  10. It was a really exciting show. Everyone had a great time, including the trio, themselves. They were really in tune with each other and obviously listening their asses off. It was a combination of tunes by Tony, Miles and members of the band. They did an amazing version of "In A Silent Way". It started with near silence and Jack hitting some bell-like cymbals followed by the band slowly joining quietly. No indication of the tune yet, but when Jack started the metronome-like snare of IASW, it was magic. They must have flowed through that for at least 20 minutes. The show lasted a full 2 hours, which is unusual for a Yoshi's show. They usually wrap things up after about an hour and a half. I wonder if they will reprise this in the future.
  11. I believe that there are one or two cuts in the "Jimi Hendrix Experience" box that came out a couple of years ago.
  12. Al - are you in NYC? +++ From The Wonder web site: Live Television shows for 2004 Television will be performing 2 shows in New York, at Irving Plaza, on: Thursday March 25 Friday March 26th. These 2 shows are confirmed. There may be others around that time, but not confirmed yet. Also confirmed is Boston, Wednesday March 24th, at the Paradise.
  13. There are WAY too many Jimi "what if's" for me to comprehend........so I try not to think about it.
  14. I think the Maui concert was the ONLY show there. I have an old bootleg LP of it, but the sound is marginal.
  15. Just got my live disk today. Sounds great, so far. I don't know why I didn't go to this. I was seeing a lot of shows at this venue back then. I guess I hadn't discovered them yet. BTW, mine is numbered 4837/5000. Does this mean that it's almost sold out? Or is it like Mosaic, where the numbers seem to be pretty arbitrary.
  16. Yes, Lloyd has done work outside of Television, too. I recommend his solo album "Alchemy". Slightly more "pop" than Television or Verlaine's solo work, but really good.
  17. I think I could do without jazz violin, myself. Nothing against the musicians themselves, but the tone just doesn't do anything for me.
  18. Welcome to the world of Television, Al! Those albums came out in 1977 & 1978, respectively. I have yet to pick up the new re-masters with the extra tracks, but it's just a matter of time. I did in fact just order the "Waldorf" set from Rhino this week - should be great. It was mentioned in a review of the band on NPR's Fresh Air last week, which you can hear through the web site. Speaking of web sites, there is a really good one out of England for these guys right here: The Wonder I also just picked up a 2CD compilation (also English) of Tom Verlaine material that I had been looking for called "The Miller's Tale - A Tom Verlaine Anthology" ('Miller' being his real last name). I really like what I'm hearing, so far. The first disc is from a live show in England in the early 80's. The second is a collection of stuff from his solo albums, unreleased material and one tune each from the first 2 TV albums. It's a really nice set, if you find it. As far as seeing the band live.......they have played sporatically together over the last few years. I just saw them here in SF last Fall. Pretty much what you would expect - a guitar jam-fest. And finally........they did an album together in the early 90's just called "Television" which didn't do well, but has some great material on it. Should be easy to find. Hope I didn't overload you with info........enjoy!
  19. I got that email, too. I hope that they stay on schedule with that release. I'm looking forward to it. I never picked up a CD of "Four & More" or "In Europe" just waiting to get the whole thing in this box.
  20. Eggleston's VERY entertaining. I have had this book for a long time. Highly recommended (if it's still available).
  21. "Half Note" is a great album. I'm waiting to hear the reviews on the sound quality upgrade (I have the original release) before picking this up......again.
