  1. I've seen him a number of times, too. Can't say he lit up the stage, but I don't have any problems with him. This show at Big Ears in 2022, with just him and Andrew Cyrille was pretty interesting.
  2. That's a classic. This is the album I heard first, though. Always liked it.
  3. That's cool. Thanks! The box set "Songs for Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts" that came out about 4 years ago was eye-opening. As much as I liked the various collections that have been rationed out over the years, to hear the entire shows back to back to back to back is an entirely different experience. Easily some of his most impressive live recordings. Lucky you! I think she's cutting back on live performing, so see her while you can. John Leventhal (her husband) on guitar is great, too.
  4. The new reissue. Very nice album. Includes a 2nd disk of live recordings.
  5. I remember picking up the Milestone CD box as a remainder 10-15 years ago for VERY cheap (<$20 I think?). Still have it - great collection!
  6. Great! Didn't know that. I like hearing the "new" songs from "The Symbol Remains," which was much better than anyone could have expected.
  7. In NY last month I saw Manet/Degas, Ed Ruscha, Picasso in Fontainebleau and an exhibit of Dietrich photos at the ICP (International Center of Photography)
  8. Just cuz sometimes you have to listen to BOC. Nice live album, BTW.
  9. Wow! Would I like to see THAT!
  10. Don't know that much about them, but been interested for a while. I've seen Rob Mazurek's name on other albums, too
  11. Waka/Wazoo[5 CD set/Blu-ray Audio] Frank Zappa
  12. As soon as I saw the notice, I thought ... he was alive? 😮
  13. Thanks. Some of the early Colosseum recordings I've heard are not that great.
  14. That opening post was from Pat Thomas, an author, reissue producer and musician. Les was an unrecognized photographer aside from his music. Pat published this book which I highly recommend. Full of mostly performance photos of jazz and soul musicians.
  15. Amazing how much this goes for now. Must have been a limited edition. I'm sure I paid much less than $50 when it came out.

Agree with this. This more recent and jazzy album is pretty good, if I remember correctly

Thanks! I'll definitely check out that Marcus album. When Eleventh House first came out I liked them, but I don't think they aged well.
  18. Agreed. He's also a very good producer.
  19. I wonder if Mary and Threadgill might join up on something at Big Ears in March. They'll both be there.
  20. Looking forward to hearing the whole album. She has a very unusual style, for sure ... but that's a GOOD thing!
