Unfortunately, we got caught up in the May 1st holiday as well. Visited Paris Jazz Corner the day before. We decided to saty for May 1st because it is our anniversary. Nothing to do in the city. Went to Montmarte and Sacre Couer, but it was terribly crowded. Enjoyed the evening going to dinner with acquaintances of a friend of ours. However, stay clear of Le Meriden Jazz Club. Paid a 100 EUR cover charge for music that they advertized as "jazz". Truly awful. LWayne

Paris Jazz Corner was excellent! I found a vinyl copy of "Mingus Lives" by Mal Waldron on Enja. it was even signed by Mal himself. An unexpected bonus. LWayne

Bobby Bradford & John Carter Quintet - No U Turn (2015, Dark Tree
LWayne replied to niels's topic in New Releases
Any other comments on this CD? I am thinking of ordering especially as I tried, in vain, to track down a physical copy of this CD at FNAC and Paris Jazz Corner. Looks like I will need to order directly from Dark Tree, or, try to order through my local brick & mortar. LWayne -
That thread seems mostly to apply to reissues. However, there is a current "Jazz in Paris" topic under the "Recommendations" section that is helpful. No advice on jazz clubs though. Thanks, LWayne

Travelling to Paris next weekend on business. I used to travel pretty extensively, but not so much the past couple of years. Will be in Paris for pleasure and Orsay France for business. My wife is also coming along on the trip. Looking for recommendations for record/CD stores (hoping to pick up the John Carter & Bobby Bradford "No U Turn" on Dark Tree Recordings while I am there) and always interested in hearing live jazz at the clubs. I have been to the New Morning before, but did not see anything of interest during this time period. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Merci. LWayne

Last month I cancelled ny back order from DMG. They sent a "bullying" email basically stating I was foolish for my action. Also hinted that they would burning CDR if they could not get another delivery. Supply versus demand, but I think that I will pass. LWayne

I also ordered several weeks ago when I received the email from ArtistShare. I try to support this independent label as much as possible. Besides, who can resist this pairing, and, as Justin points out, likely the last Hank Jones recording. LWayne

Good luck! A couple of months ago, CD Japan notified me that one of three CDs that I had ordered was cancelled (shown as available on their website, but they were unable to source). Given that this was the one CD of the three that I had ordered that I really wanted, I tried to cancel the order. Key work being "tried". Despite sending repeated emails to the address on their website, my emails were ignored. Two days later I received notification that the remaining two CDs had shipped. They ignored my requests to cancel. In a subsequent email exchange with Toshi Makaya, who was apparently an owner/manager; he explained that CD Japan has no idea whether the CDs they advertise can be filled or not when the order is placed. The "availability" is subject to record companies taking the order, actually having the inventory, and deciding to ship. While I complained that this seemed deceptive, CD Japan offered no resolution. I understand that they are simply a fulfillment house, but find this group to be less than reputable. Needless to say, I will not return. LWayne

I am driving into Philadelphia on Sunday night to catch this concert as I have a business meeting the next day in Delaware. Any other board members attending? What is the venue (First Unitarian Church) like and is there nearby parking? What time do the doors open? Alwys willing to get together and say "hi". Regards, LWayne
