I would guess there's more of a fraternity/cameraderie among players (musicians, record owners, etc.) in the jazz world. They all knew each other, and most were friends. After a while, they probably didn't care, and wanted the real story to get out (so that "Zeke" could get some recognition, for example). Another example is Bennie Green's "Soul Stirrin'" on Blue Note. At the time of its release, Gene Ammons was credited only as "Jug." But by the '80's reissues, he was credited in full.

    Bob Dylan corner

Saw the Reagan movie last night (excellent movie, btw; well worth watching). Over the closing credits, a crooner sings "Don't Fence Me In." Turns out the singer was Dylan.
  12. I've been listening/collecting since my tweens. Back in the day, NYC/Brooklyn was a treasure trove of cutout LPs. Virtually every little store had a bin of them, and Woolworth's had many bins. It was very easy to buy great, obscure LPs for $1.99. Of course, new LPs were also cheaper, and there was never a need to buy at list price. There were no such things as used record bins, except maybe at a garage sale. In college, I was a DJ at the radio station, and accumulated many LPs either as promos or from an industry service that sold them to us very cheaply. After college, I worked in a record store, and could buy things at cost. And so the LPs accumulated. In the '90's, I was feeling trapped by all I had accumulated, and sold the bulk of them off. But then I started accumulating CDs... In the past 10 years, I've also started buying used LPs, just for the fun of it. Dusty Groove is my main source, though I do also frequent local stores.

  18. Thanks. I probably saw these while researching, but saw they were from January or last fall. I didn't have this problem then; funny that it's resurrected now (at least for me).
  19. I did a news search at the time and couldn't find anything on it. Is there a web site or chat group you frequent where users report things like this?
  20. I use a similar program for the Mac called SuperDuper! All graphical interface, no command lines needed. https://shirt-pocket.com
  21. Re the Sonoma upgrade: Maybe so. My guess is that iTunes wasn't updating the "Music Library" file (which keeps track of where all your music is on all your drives); I'm glad they realized it was happening and fixed it. You can have music files in multiple locations and on multiple drives, and iTunes should keep track of it all - right-click any song in iTunes and select Get Info, then in the window that pops up, go to the File tab, and you'll see the location of that song on your hard drive. If a song won't play, perhaps it's in a file format incompatible with iTunes.
