  1. The Miles catalog was somewhat neglected by Columbia for a good part of the '70's. Kind Of Blue was a "Nice Price" LP, Milestones was only available in rechanneled stereo, the Blackhawk LPs were only available on their super-budget imprint (so budget that they didn't use inner sleeves), etc. It was only when Miles was on his 4-year "sabbatical" and Columbia needed product to release that they started reexamining his catalog.
  2. Disc 8: Haydn piano trio, Brahms double concerto, Boccherini cello concerto #9 and cello sonata #6.
  3. Riccardo Muti - The Complete Warner Symphonic Recordings, disc 3.
  4. The beating heart of the GD. When he was "on," the Dead were "on." His autobiography is a fascinating book. RIP.
  5. #155 is in the house! Beautiful presentation.
  6. This was a really good piece. Thanks for posting it.
  7. I do something similar. I can play my entire collection from my iMac on shuffle/random; when in the car, I do it from my iPhone. I love random, love not having to think about what to play next. The only exceptions, by and large, are when I play new CDs or LPs.
  8. Mosaic now says I'll receive the box this Friday.
  9. Disc 7: Jacques Thibaud, Casals, and Alfred Cortot performing Mendelssohn Piano Trio #1, Schumann Piano Trio #1, and Beethoven 10 Variations on Müller's "Kakadu."
  10. Riccardo Muti - The Complete Warner Symphonic Recordings, disc 2.
  11. The CD of Sonic Boom is a classic, because it also has that extra session with George Coleman. I wish they gave that session it's own LP name, instead of just referring to it as "bonus tracks."
  12. IMHO, it's hard to see the value proposition of a Kindle vs. buying an iPad Mini. The Mini has a better screen, more advanced technology, it's a full-fledged iPad, very lightweight, and you can load the Kindle app on it and access your Kindle library.
  13. It's very encouraging that there's strong demand for this set. I wondered whether the natural audience for this set was aging out...nice to see there's continued interest, perhaps among all age levels.
  14. I've just received an email from Mosaic - my order is being processed.
  15. Disc 6: Jacques Thibaud, Casals, and Alfred Cortot performing Beethoven Piano Trio #7 and 7 Variations on Bei Männern, and Schubert Piano Trio #1.
  16. Riccardo Muti - The Complete Warner Symphonic Recordings, disc 1.
  17. Disc 5: Dvořák cello concerto (with George Szell), Elgar cello concerto (with Adrian Boult), Bruch Kol Nidrei (appropriate for tomorrow night).
  18. I actually own this twice: in the Menuhin Century box and in the Barbirolli box.
  19. Nice. There seems to be shamefully little Casals currently available...also Segovia. Reinhard Goebel complete Archiv box, disc 74 (last!).
  20. Even though it's late Dexter, the box is worth getting. And remember that the Powell box has his Roost recordings at the correct speed.
