  4. That was really good. But. . . I don't necessarily assume the music is "out there." Or perhaps more clearly that they are "available." There I am sure are many things of all types I would like to hear that just aren't able to be licensed and released fro many reasons. There is so much of so many artists that are available to listen to that I will spend the rest of my life looking for and listening to that. . . well it would be great for a box set of Carter material but if it doesn't appear I'll be fine. I love that woman's work. I'll listen to what I do have, which I think is all the official, over and over.
  5. There may be many reasons why there is no Mosaic set for Betty. And it's possible one day we'll see one, who knows? She's a hero of mine, she was so so so brave to blaze her own trail and she was a very accomplished talent scout and bandleader. I know I have personally suggested a box set of hers to Mosaic. Maybe one day.
  6. Bob Dylan and the Band “The 1974 Live Recordings” 500×500 30.1 KB disc 6, again
  7. Roy Haynes and Sarah Vaughan during her 1954 European tour

    Roy Haynes RIP

I forgot about that. He's a great player.
  9. My copy of the new SACD should arrive from cdjapan today. . . getting ready by listening to my cd copy. (I also have my original LP . . . but not in my listening room at the moment). Santana "Borboletta "Japan cd A favorite Santana release!
  10. On to disc 5 of this new box set.
  11. Andrew Hill “Smoke Stack” Blue Note Japan RVG edition SHM-CD 2024 Just in yesterday from Japan. . . this is now my best sounding version of this perhaps favorite Andrew Hill session. RIP Mr. Haynes.
  12. John Hicks Trio “Nightwind: An Erroll Garner Songbook” HighNote cd Swinging my way into this cold morning. Up earlier than I’d like to be but I’ll spin a few discvs and try to get Fiona the dachshund back to sleep and take a nap myself. This is a great disc!
  13. Her birthdate may be earlrier, that happens. But she sounds very much like Dina Washington singing the blues on this blues material, some really nice tenor accompaniment and some raw horn arrangements that are effective.
  14. As Kevin noted, it's the same with some extra external Japanese material. I guess that copies to cdjapan were limited--it's no longer available for sale. All my other volumes of the Bootleg Series are the Japanese, so I'm happy to have this one.
  15. +1 from Dan's comment. You've been missed.
  16. Duke Ellington "Blues in Orbit" Columbia/Analogue Productions SACD I have both the Mobile Fidelity SACD and this one from Analogue Productions (plus Redbook versions from Columbia, and an LP). Both the SACD are excellent sounding. I love this music! 500×500 37 KB
  17. Any shared tracks would be alternate takes. Now playing: Dora Morelenbaum “Pique” Since I love her parents’ work, it’s a no brainer that I am learning to love this one. 800×800 405 KB
  18. Dexter Gordon "The Other Side of Round Midnight" Blue Note cd Music not used in the film. I'm not crazy about that film. . . and I like this album better than the soundtrack album. Dexter Gordon, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Palle Mikkelborg, Herbie Hancock, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Mads Vinding, Pierre Michelot, Billy Higgins Tony Williams, Bobby McFerrin, John McLaughlin, Bobby Hutcherson
  19. Again, because mid-way through yesterday's listening my wife decided to turn "Viet Nam in HD" up way loud downstairs and the Quintet was punctuated with explosions and helicopter sounds loudly brom behind . . . not ideal. Great performance!
  20. The Maga 7 "Gloating comes Easy"
  21. Now on to disc 4, the first of the box set that I have not ever heard before. . . and I’m happy (though not too surprised) to discover the sound quality is up to the previous two night’s excellent standard. And the music is yet more of this quintet discovering what they can and will do, listening to each other and stretching out and into the changes. Amazing material! “Miles in France 1963 & 1964 The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8” disc 4
  22. Saw Chuck Nessa was playing this box set recently and realized I haven’t listened to it for some time. Now playing record 1. “Saxophone Giants” RCA 3 LP box set
