  2. A late start to the listening day due to unexpected domestic issues involving the well pump. Fortunately now resolved. It sure was cold, a damp cold, much earlier this morning. Starting off with a Stan Getz I had not heard in some time, Steeple Chase cd “Copenhagen Unissued Session 1977” which is a quartet with Joanne Brackeen, NHO Pedersen and Billy Hart. Truly nice sound and performances.
  3. Blossom Dearie “Our Favorite Songs” Daffodil cd
  4. David Benoit “Waiting for Spring” GRP cd Picked this one up because Emily Remler is here, playing very well. 342×341 27 KB
  5. I have all their work bought in the 'nineties, because of Charlie Rouse. It varies a bit from album to album.
  6. “Miles Davis '54–The Prestige Recordings” disc 1
  7. On to this 2 cd set released Friday, “Forces Of Nature: Live At Slug’s” on Blue Note, listed with McCoy Tyner and Joe Henderson as co-leaders.
  8. Another cold morning with rain. Sigh. Gotta get used to the rain, we’re getting so much. Starting off with the “Round Midnight” soundtrack on Columbia cd. The sound from this French studio is quite interesting!
  9. Herb was advised to change the name to the Tubingen Brass or the Tyumen Jazz Band .
  10. Artie Shaw “More Last Recordings:The Final Sessions” 300×296 10.3 KB Great sessions before hanging up his clarinet.
  11. Zoot Sims “Compatibility” Jump/Delmark cd Starting off another cold wet morning. . . way too early but Fiona the dachshund would not be denied. I’ll try to get some more sleep in a bit.
  12. Marvin Gaye “What’s Goin’ On” From this box set
  13. Grateful Dead Records LP
  14. Milt Jackson - Joe Pass - Ray Brown “The Big 3” Pablo cd The LP cover:
  15. Yes. . . my wife is a big Judds fan and I knew about half or more of the set list, and these were good choices.
  16. Should be a good show. And now finishing up listening to . . . . The amazing SACD stereo/quad release of Santana “Borboletta” from Sony. This recording is part of my listening foundation, I’ve enjoyed it ever since its first release and man it has never sounded better (listening to the stereo SACD layer). Just such a great sequenced, mixed and performed album now in sonic glory.
  17. Ha. . . just my Apple laptop's "Photo Booth" at work. Only camera I have that I can post pictures from.
  18. At the moment the cd version of this seems only available in Japan, but I had to have a copy so I ordered one and it arrived yesterday. Would have been prohibitively expensive, but I had a lot of points with cdjapan which defrayed the cost. Joel Ross is on board, one reason that I ordered but I do have almost all of Hill’s previous releases and enjoy the musical journeys he leads one on. Marquis Hill “Composers Collective: Beyond The JukeBox” https://marquishill.bandcamp.com/album/composers-collective-beyond-the-jukebox 640×640 143 KB
  19. Bettie Page photographed at the beach by Bunny Yeager, 1954.
  20. Our survivor of a dogwood tree (about six years ago a windstorm broke off the top half which used to crown beautifully in front of our bedroom window) last night with snow and the lights that illuminate the deck stairs shining brightly.
  21. Yesterday I was able to crank the audio/video system and listen to and watch the Wynona Judd "Austin City Limits" episode. What a band she and her husband had, and how polished and controlled the performance. Great great audio as well.
  22. The first snow of the year viewed out one of my listening room windows (photo taken by Photobooth of laptop which was sitting on top of my turntable dustcover)
  23. “Introducing Brad Mehldau” Warner Bros cd Two excellent bass and drum teams forming trios here.
