  1. You can purchase a DVD copy on amazon. That's a brave archeress putting up with a cobra coiled around her leg!
  2. Dexter Gordon “Clubhouse” TOCJ Blue Note LTE Series cd Japan
  3. I used to say I was glad I lived now in Ohio where there were no wild fires or tornados. Then two years ago I was awakened by a tornado going through my neighborhood. We got lucky, no damage. Another neighbor we are close to (in both senses of the word) got lucky because a tree fell inches from hitting her garage. Other neighbors suffered damage.
  4. I don't really know what the additional material was meant to be. I tried to get Cuscuna to tell me about it but all I got from his was no, this was not going to be coming out. What we have had issued is the original recording, not the television broadcast material.
  5. Dexter Gordon “Landslide” TOCJ LTE Series cd
  6. I would really like to see issued the additional material that would have been on the two cd set of "A Drum is a Woman" that was planned, even advertised in cd inserts, from Columbia just before Phil was fired.
  7. I really enjoy the only vocals here, by Jimmy Rushing and Joe Williams. Seems the set is on back order for a few weeks, selling well I guess. I'm happy to see Mosaic in such a healthy stance the last two years.
  8. “The Magnificent Thad Jones” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD Sounds great! (Though I’ve always found this title to sound great–I’ve kept and will still keep my 24 bit by RVG version).
  9. Stepped outside a few minutes with Fiona the miniature dachshund. Man it's cold and crisp! Surprised three deer in the driveway. Right now "Booker Little 4 and Max Roach" Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD

  15. Ella Fitzgerald “Live In East Berlin 1967” Lost Recordings 2 UHQCD set, disc 2 Jimmy Jones, Bob Cranshaw and Sam Woodyard!
  16. Finally got around to pulling this 2 cd set out for a listen. I love the ensemble portion on disc 2–always have loved the recordings of this tour, and this is one of the best as far as sound quality goes. I have dozens and dozens of Monk Quartet recordings, but there are fewer of these larger ensemble recordings. Thelonious Monk "Live in Rotterdam 1967"Lost Recordings 2 cd set disc 2
  17. I remember that '80 flood. . . hadn't been there long. After Tower closed, Waterloo became my recording shop. I miss three people and an awful lot of places in that town.
  18. Monday Michiru “ENSO” Sonic Image cd Her latest. I hope that she will have a new one out soon.
  19. A fascinating cd from Lituhania–a duet between sax and contrabass violin, all Monk compositions. Dominic Duval / Jimmy Halperin “Monk Dreams” No Business Records cd Excellent sound. . . and playing. Beautiful cover model. 1000×1000 85.3 KB
  20. Another cold day . . . but no new snow, I’ll take it. Kai Winding ‘Rainy Day’ Verve Japan cd I bought this on a whim and because it was cheap and because I like Kai. Kai arranged this with a singing group and boy it’s a mid-sixties idea of mod hip jazz. Less interesting than but probably inspired by McFarland’s work. Fun listen overall, but not quite enough crackers to go with the cheese. . . . Probably not a surprise that the tracks without the vocal group are the best. Nice sound to warm up the stereo with though. 300×293 10.4 KB Followed by Elmo Hope “The Beacon & Celebrity Trio Recordings” Prevue cd Reissues two LPs: “Here’s Hope” and “High Hope,” featuring Hope compositions. 3/4 of the disc have Paul Chambers with Philly Joe Jones completing the trio. 500×435 40.7 KB
  21. SFJazz Collective “The Music of Chick Corea and New Compositions” disc 1
