  2. It looks as if you are a fan of Blakey and the Messengers, so yes do get this one. It's a good one in my view. The 3CD set of the Jazz Messengers in Paris 13 May 1961 is a must for Messenger fans- RTE Label.
  3. Thanks for the input,I will try the CDR route.
  4. Amazon is advertising CDRs of this concert for $15.98. Can anyone comment on the sound quality and are there other sources of this material less than $20 per CD ?
  5. Erroll Garner-complete"Concert by the Sea" Stan Getz-complete "Sweet Rain" Dave Pike /Bill Evan-"Pike's Peak"-Bonus tracks if any?
  6. Jazz Dialogue and 1/2 of Quartet is a Quartet will not be included. No Sun in Venice is a.k.a One Never Knows
  7. I feel your pain, GA. Off topic, but as good a place as any for a rant. I will NEVER use USPS around or anywhere near the holiday season again. Three of my Christmas present packages--all ordered on or near December 1, mind you--WERE NOT DELIVERED UNTIL AFTER 12/27. Off topic, but as someone who knows someone with "inside" experience with the USPS, anything shipped standard after 12/1 might take a month to arrive, even if it is traveling just a couple of states. The quasi-governmental unionized bureaucracy that is the USPS is currently trying to cut costs by "swallowing its tail." It is not a merit-based organization either (i.e., do a good job, and be rewarded). If it is not sent "priority mail," it is placed on the back burner, even if it was ordered way early. If you need anything in December with timeliness, go with UPS, FedEx, or DHL. However, during most months, USPS shipping is decent, and at a reasonable cost. Back on topic: if anyone comes across a decent deal on Wes Montgomery's Complete Riverside Recordings (for under $100, or under $80 preferably), please post. I missed some of the good prices in recent months. Newbury Comics Burlington,MA has the Montgomery Box for $69.99
  8. Verve-Japan released this set. I was hoping they would release the Trident material as well -nothing yet!
  9. Wes Montgomery Riverside Big Box-$69.99 Nuwbury Comics,Burlington,MA
  10. Yet again another unissued Presige track-"I've Got You Under My Skin" from the Red Garland/Ray Barretto session of 27 June 1958.
  11. FWIW, The Strata Web site recently reported that Tolliver's "Paper Man" was to released as part of a multi-disk set in the future.
  12. The only chips Martha has left to play in the Garner game are the Concert by the Sea unissued tracks are eight unissued tracks from 1956-57. There is some commercial pap from 1958 unissued. Classics issued all the sessions from 1950-53 in their entirety. Chris, you speak of Martha in the past tense. Is there something we don't know ?
  13. Mosaic quotes about 15 July for release.
  14. I wasn't aware Jamal had recorded a Solo Session for Argo/Chess ? Any details ?
  15. There was speculation about another Tolliver Select which would include"Paper Man" ??
  16. The Ahmad Jamal box contains the tonic to accelerate your recovery. Enjoy
  17. Unless I miss my guess, most of the unissued tracks will come from the Pershing dates of Jan 1958. Forty-three tracks were recorded but only nineteen were ever released.Of course, fire may have destroyed some unissued material. I was able to count 34 unissued tracks from the limited info I have. Jamal probably rejected a number of takes. We shall see how this plays out..
  18. The April 19 Tape(s) were reported Lost
  19. I offered mine for $160 plus S/H some while ago-no takers
  20. Wonder if Mosaic could pick up that label ?

  23. If the info here is accurate (I bet it is!), "What's New" is a trio feature! (See my post #29 above) I thought #1 on the third disc was "Come Rain Or Come Shine"... just played it again and think it might well be, but they play some other kind of head. The chord progressions though sound like "Come Rain..." to my ears. I'm not 100% sure though... what would you say #1 on the third disc is, Bill? #1 Disk 3 Angel Face #1 Disk 4 Angel Face Hank Jones trio selection is Azure in Ellington Medley,Whats New (Thompson's Selection is omitted)
