THanks,Brownie. Classics will probably issue the balance of the 27 Feb material as well as most of the 30 March recordings late this year. Next year a Garner 1953-54 CD.

Can anyone tell me the number of tracks on this CD ?

Lohmann's Davis discography lists the unissued takes as: Apr 17,1963 Seven Steps to Heaven -Takes 3,5 July 27,1963 Bye-Bye Blackbird 16:45,Theme 5:50 Sept 25,1964 Stella by Starlight 12:35 July 26,1963 All Blues 10:30,My Funny Valentine 9:15,Joshua/Theme 13:50 were reported probably radio broadcasted and hence probably recorded but not issued. George Coleman's solos were edited on two selections and entirely eliminated on a third

Looks like the Cellar Door set will be delayed,but Seven Steps- Davis 1963-64 recordings is on track for Sept release-7 CDs

Clem, I think that the intent is to do a Jamal /Crosby/Fournier box. I saw Jamal in Boston 2 years ago and he was playing two-fisted hard driving piano. If he comes your way go out of your way to see him.

The Jamal litigation has been cleared up.It depends now on how much money Jamal wants. Orrin Keepnews reported that all the unissued tracks of Jamal sessions had vanished from the Argo/Chess vaults. Hopefully,as in the case of Coltrane, they went home with Ahmad. A Jamal Mosaic box may be a better prospect than some now on that list.

The Garner situation is sad indeed.Martha Glaser ,Errols former manager, has control used her veto power to sabotage a Mosaic box set issue.She has a bitter personal vendetta with Columbia executives and in her mid-eighties has been victimized by senility. Classics will release the remaining Garner material over time .Look for a fall release of the solo recordings of Feb 1952. Hope this clarifies the matter.
