  1. UP! Based on my satisfaction with the Rouse&Rodney Uptown date.

    Hank Mobley

I too think so. For me, Mobley is the shit. He is among my favorites for sure.
  6. I've only watched it all the way through once. As I recall, my biggest problem like others have mentioned here was with the lack of more commentary from musicians. It was nice to see Artie Shaw, but I thought Marsalis, and Crouch were used way too much. With all the greats still alive today, and able to give real color, Burns could have done a much better job on that part. As for the rest of it, I neither love it, nor hate it.
  7. I never plan on buying it. The reason is along the lines of what John Tapscott said. Her music is fine, but it's not for me.
  8. I almost forgot. The answer is....
  9. I had some of the best and worst times during those years. It seemed like I was always in a shit load of trouble, so if I could choose or not choose to re-live those experiences, I would pick the latter. (except the availability of young chicks part)
  10. Thanks Lon, I thought it was just in my ears.
  11. Most definitely THE FOX. Also try EASTWARD HO! IN NEW YORK, and HAROLD IN THE LAND OF JAZZ.
  12. I thought Dr. J was over here from AAJ. At AAJ I believe Dr. J is Judy Schlessinger. (sp?)
  13. Thanks to Chuck Nessa. Charlie Rouse and Red Rodney - Social Call
  14. Tony Jerant I have not seen him post on any of the boards. joefont posts at AAJ, but I'm not sure he has ever posted here. Let's see if I can get the spelling right. Amirbagashells. Might be somewhere, but under a new name.
  15. I'll take choice "A." Very, very dumb...but still pretty hot. A little too bulldogish for me.
  16. I listened to Sonny Rollins Plus Four over the weekend, and have to say it is one of my all time favorites. I've always enjoyed Saxophone Colossus, and Tenor Madness.
  17. Serenity Now...., SERENITY NOW! I find the difference of opinions here most interesting. B) I don't know of this means overated, but I still struggle with Dolphy's Out To Lunch, and Hill's Point Of Departure.
  18. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Dmitry, and soulstation1 on the telephone. Unfortunately, I have still yet to meet anyone fact to face. I hope to change that in the future when I return to NY in the fall. I'm not sure of this counts, but I swear I've seen Out2Lunch, and Weizen messing around with my mailbox. No doubt in search of my latest Ravi Shankar CD delivery. B)
  19. Yeah, don't you remember the Chuck Nessa with the lampshade on his head incident at the 54th annual BNBB picnic? I believe it was a direct result of too many Kazaa's on the rocks. I'll never forget the look on Cuscuna's face.
  20. Jimmy Heath - On The Trail Art Blakey - The Witch Doctor Joe Gordon - Lookin' Good Sonny Rollins - Plus Four Stan Getz & Bob Brookmeyer - 1961
  21. Welcome Leanne.
  22. Hmmmm...., A Krugman ban.
  23. Paul, you don't even want to hear my opinion on gambling, and hookers.
