  2. Nice to see a few more responses. I'll post the answers on Monday. Two more days to post final thoughts and guesses.
  3. Any other thoughts or guesses before I post the answers?
  4. Thanks for posting more of your thoughts, everyone. I'm happy to see that you had the time to listen to & comment on the music, ubu.
  5. Thanks to all those who've taken the time to post their guesses and thoughts about the pieces. I will be away for about a week and a half. I do expect to see more posts here and depending on this, I will either e-mail the answers to those who've posted until then or start a thread here.
  6. I don't like "Follow Me" that much, either... but I like him very much in the classical piano trio setting! Did you check him out in that format? I did hear both of the Sweet Basil discs a couple of years ago but they did not do much for me either. Haven't heard the more recent trio/ensemble efforts.
  7. Has anyone else not been able to get (or listen to) the music yet? If you are encountering problems please send me a message. Mike - please send me a message when you have the music.
  8. Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your thoughts. I really enjoy(ed) reading them. Even went back to some of the tracks again. I am really busy at the moment but I over the weekend I will post reactions to your comments I'm looking forward to reading what the others who signed up have to say (and it's still not too late to sign up, just send me a pm or post on the sign up thread).
  9. Good recommendations here. I'll just say that I don't like Pilc. I have his recent solo cd (called Follow Me, I think) to trade in case you are interested.
  10. We have plenty to talk about. 36 tracks. I was going to include a few more, in fact, but could not find the CD's (I did find them yesterday. Will save them for another BFT). Guesses, impressions, comparisons, anything you'd like to note about the music, or might spur comments by others, is welcome. Thanks for signing up and taking the time to listen. Edit: If you are reasonably certain that you know the artist/album, please do not mention them in your post but rather provide a link to the amg page (or the artist's site, or wherever). I don't know if we should do the same for guesses. I'm open to suggestions (or you can do as you like).
  11. I hope you feel better soon, Sand. The discussion thread will be up later today.
  12. Have you been able to get the files yet? Let me know and I will start the discussion thread. Aggie87 (Erik) has also signed up and will probably join in with some comments in a week or so.
  13. 36 tracks in all (check your messages). I suggest having just one thread for discussion. We are not many and as long as we identify the tracks under discussion, I do not see what might be a problem. What do you think? Edit: Nate, you will do well on this. I know - from having read your reviews and posts here and elsewhere - that you will easily be able to identify more than one third of the tracks.
  14. Great to see you here, Sand. If I can land a job this year, I might have the money to make it Kongsberg next year (if not, certainly the one after that). MY one time there was a fine experience. Less for the music than for our conversations about this and that.
  15. That makes five of you. I have not been following the BFT discussions but I suspect a few more will want to join so I will wait until Monday before beginning to send the links to those who signed up. This also gives me a few more days - much welcome - to decide on the final tracks to be included. I hope this's all right with you.
  16. It is July, has been for a few days, and even though king ubu helped by switching places with me I still need a couple of days to have my test ready. Since I live in Singapore and have not been able to put the test together in advance I would not like to delay matters further by mailing cd's. So (with apologies to those who'd rather listen to uncompressed files) I will upload mp3 files somewhere and provide you with the address. I will upload them before the weekend. I am sorry for the delay and for having to upload compressed files but it's been very busy here (and will be through October). Please send me a message here (and/or post on this thread) and I will send you the link(s) when I am done.
  17. Thanks for the link.
  18. Though I have the two separately on two Naxos releases. One includes The Archduke Trio along with the Kreutzer Sonata (and a set of variations) while the other has Haydn's Trio in G major (very nice), Beethoven's Kakadu Variations, and Schubert's Trio no.1. Transfers and audio restoration by Mark Obert-Thorn.
  19. I would like to listen to this. I live in Singapore, however, so I would understand if you'd rather mail it to somewhere not as far away. Thanks. Well, you could pay the stamps ..... I'll check the cost on Monday. Sure, Mike. Have you had any occasion to check how much postage would be?
  20. I would like to listen to this. I live in Singapore, however, so I would understand if you'd rather mail it to somewhere not as far away. Thanks.
  21. Verge has this for 130 Canadian dollars. That's about $113.
  22. I agree on Richter. I also like Lupu and, especially, Sokolov (for D960; D959 not on record yet, I think, I heard him play it in concert once and have another concert recording).
  23. Updated.
  24. So is Matthew Sperry and I would appreciate a link to any such discograpy/sessionography. I've had the set for more than a week and listened to it a fair number of times. I had high expectations and I'm happy (since I paid for the set) to say that I'm not disappointed and I don't think any fan will be.
