Sad. RIP, Walt. I discover WALT with "TO MY SON" on Steeple Chase in the late 70's. I own now all of his available disco and like it almost all. But "TO MY SON" stays as my favorite. It's the records who made me like the vibes.

I have. The formule is the same than with Roscoe: partly written, partly improvised but in a more radical way. If the composed part from Roscoe was rooting in the post romantisme (I heard there Milhaud or... Kodaly), Webern, Ligeti or Berio are the source for Parker in the composed parts. The Improvised part are, also, more radical and, somehow more collectif and violent than in "Composition/ Improvisation". The meeting of contemporary classical music and free improvisation work, also, more as a "collage" with Parker. But booth are very good albums and absolutely not "academic" at all to this hears.

When EVRA receive the ball from an action that he has started, all the work has yet to be done and you give credit to this goal to RONALDO (and RONALDO, alone) ? That's the most strange way to analyse it, really. -

Seen him in Belgium at the beginnig of the year, also. He cames with a pupil of him, an alto sax who, at the end of the gig, plays two duets with SAM. The name is CHRIS AIELLO and he is very much in the early KONITZ /MARSH style. I made an interview with SAM after the concert who has also been filming (concert and interview). Didn't really open himself much but his daughter was filling the gap. When I ask him how old he was when he starts to learn piano, he answers "forteen", when I ask him how old he was when he starts to play professionnaly, he answers "forteen". When he sees my expression, he just adds" I was a fast learner".

Piss off. The Tour has long been suspect in their drug checking practices and now it has finally caught up to their lying asses. I fail to see how a baseball player, against whom absolutely nothing has been proved, has anything at all to do with the small-minded French and their hatred of American cyclists. Time to exonerate Landis and get off of the back of the greatest cyclist in the history of Le Tour in Lance Armstrong. Le Tour owes the cycling world and America an apology for their very existence....the morons. If there's a moron here, it's you. I think that you are a teacher ? if it's what you are, I'm very sorry for your pupils because the "farce", as usual here, is you, blinded by your "stupid" patriotism. Like Rasmussen, Landis was just a small thieves. The real king of them all, is your idol, Lance Armstrong. If the guy is the greatest of something, it's the "greatest" cheater. Ever.

Restrain? I think that it's a beautifull album on his on right who give an idea in which direction he was heading for a while. No soprano, shorter format pieces and a return to more structure music. From this point, I think that Coltrane would have develop his composer's talent and in the same time try, like in "Interstellar Space", unusual experiences.

I've seen her (in Belgium) a year and half ago in a trio setting as supporting act to FRED ANDERSON. A good player but nothing groundbreaking. As her clothes, she didn't wear (alas) any tutu on this date but a very sober brown dress who covered her from her neck to her feet.

I went one night to the CBGB during a three weeks trip to New York City. Years? 1979. I've seen that night a band called BLOODLESS PHARAOHS. Very impress by the lead guitar. Some month later, he guy, name BRIAN SETZER was the leader of another group who had few hits and even came to play to Brussels: THE STRAY CATS.

Thanks for the tip.

Thank you. Great (but I've never seen the CD).

My best remembrance of STANKO was a duo that he plays with BOBO STENSON, some years ago in a festival. Far from the ECMish sound, partly improvised, it was delightfull: two masters at work. I had the first record of the "polish" quartet but I didn't keep it for very long: this kind of "chamber music" style doesn't stand the test of time (IMO). Even a very short time. But I can imagine that the quartet is better live than on record where the sound is not so restrain to a preconceive esthetic.
