I think you may be right - I've got a funny feeling that an AAJ forum was the first place I ever posted, back in 1999.
'there was a real non-business vibe to it, w/Tom craking wise ocassionally and stuff like that'
Funny you should say that - I made more-or-less those two same points when I posted a 'fond farewell' note on the BNBB. (I deleted my 'fond farewell' eventually - it was just to express appreciation of having such a cool place to hang-out - I felt foolish leaving it there once it became apparent there was going to be no attempt at conciliation from 'Blue Note').
I read this moring, though (from Mike, the administrator), that the AAJ board has only been in existence since September last year, which weakens the case, a little, of the few previous regulars who are complaining.
Thanks Chuck. I'm still only half-way through Jane Austen. The Uptown set was on the mental list of stuff to pick up once I was back in work and in funds, which, as of last week, I am.
edski - the RVG was mastered from the newly discovered original tapes, whereas previous reissues were done from 2nd or 3rd generation masters - hence the much improved sound.
It doesn't feel right, suddenly invading another forum like that. My guess is that many people felt happier jumping to an established forum, rather than an unproven one - perhaps time will bring more people over here. I can happily cope with both, I think.
Oops, I think I accidentally voted for one of the All About Jazz options.
Nice board. I don't post anywhere often enough these days to make a difference, but it's been added to my BB favourites list. It's got a major thing going for it in my book: 'Today's Active Topics' huzzah!
If a moderator is going to delete posts or threads then he/she should at least post an explanation. Audio Asylum does this, or at least used to. In fact I think they used to 'freeze' threads that were getting out of hand too.
