  1. Cool story. Thanks for posting that, Jim.
  2. *sputter* WHAT.!?!?! Well... in an AL East sort of way. You came thisclose to getting scratched from my Christmas card list for that outburst! ;) Once again, tragedy has been averted.
  3. Jim, I'll trade your wobbly for some healthy hitters.
  4. *sputter* WHAT.!?!?! Well... in an AL East sort of way.
  5. I hope the Mets sweep the Dodgers.
  6. Cubs didn't do that, Dan. I was there when the Giants paid the Cubs back by taking 2-3 from them. Injuries did the Giants in. You simply cannot field what essentially amounts to a Triple-A squad and expect to keep winning consistently. Not in this league. Go Jays.
  7. Too many injuries. Giants are done. E'fing Dodgers. Grrrr
  8. Blisteringly hot and smokey [from all the forest fires in the Sierras and Coastal Range]. El Nino can't come soon enough.
  9. Yet another Jake Peavy meltdown. Ugh.
  10. Giants starters aren't much better. Injuries have just decimated that staff.
  11. I have seen him pitch once before. For whatever reason I seem to be there when Cain, Lincecum, Petit or Peavy pitch. Saw Hudson once this year, too.
  12. I was at the game today. Great game. A near inside the park HR, Tomilson hit his first HR, a Grand Salami and Giants beat the Cubbies! But like you said Scott, the Mets will be a tough out. Though Cards are next. Go Giants! Go Cubs vs the Dodgers! Go Royals!
  13. Not the way they played last night. All hopes hinge on those seven games with the Dodgers. I'm heading to San Francisco today to see them play the Cubbies tomorrow. Maybe they can win one?
  14. And I will be there on Thursday. Upper Reserve, right behind Home Plate. I'll wave. Here's hoping for a Giants sweep. GO Giants! Once the Giants get into the playoffs...all bets are off. They know how to win. Just sayin'.
  15. You're right, it is a great recording. As I told John Litweiler [once I discovered it was he who wrote the liner notes] I just stumbled upon the CD version while digging through the stacks at a local used CD store. What a great find!
  16. Still, as you pointed out, it seems a bit surprising that there won't be more. Go Giants!
  17. Lord knows they can use the help.
  18. Could be...the Giants play the Dodgers seven more times. Four games are in San Francisco and at the end of the season. Now that you mention it, it is pretty strange. No 100 game winners this year. 90 may be a struggle.
  19. Hot and smokey. Fires rage in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The air quality sucks.
  20. My initial answer is yes. Sadly, I am a trumpet player, not a drummer. Just sayin'.
  21. Meadow Lark Lemon Papa Lemon Papa John the Night Tripper
  22. I'm a big Hank Mobley fan. But was amazed that James Spaulding wasn't given due credit for his flute work on the third tune, "Cute 'n Pretty" I have to wonder...is that just an oversight or was it something else? I just seems to me that on an album with this type of unique instrumentation [euphonium, tuba, alto, tenor, trumpet] they would mention the flute player. Especially since he has a couple extended solos on Cute 'n Pretty. On purpose or an error in print? I mean, was that standard practice back then? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51M74bLQvUL.jpg
  23. 'Stros no-hit Dodgers. Cool. Thanks, Guys!
  24. Yup. It will be a great season if the Giants can boot the Dodgers from playoff contention. I seriously doubt my guys will be going very deep into the playoffs if they make it. So, this would be our WS. Too many key injuries.
  25. Have faith, Jim. The "experts" counted my guys out each and every year they won the World Series. It can happen. Speaking of which...looks like Susac is back from the DL, but we sure do miss the play and bat of Joe Panik. Although, the MadBum came in to pinch hit for the Giants and promptly laced a single then scored later on in a 2-0 victory over the Cards. Our pitchers can hit! Only two games back now thanks to Oakland beating the hated Dodgers.
