  1. Can the Mets or Cardinals score a fricken run? 16 innings 0-0? Congrats to Jimenez of the Rockies on the no no. A's and Giants both looked good today. If Zito wants to win the heart of Giants fans he needs to beat the Dodgers on Sunday.
  2. See where that freakin' idiot Vicente Padilla nailed Aaron Rowand in the face, with the result that Rowand has two small fractures in his cheek, plus a mild concussion. Texas got rid of Padilla because of stuff like this, now the Dodgers are stuck with him, especially after he signed for a big contract. Rowand has never been one of my favorites, but he plays the game full out, and that's something you have to respect, so I hope he comes back full strength. Padilla is such a loser, good luck with him Torre. Padilla is a piece of crap. He said last year he didn't understand why he got released by Texas. I do, I was at the game. The A's hit back to back HR's against him and he hit the next batter in the helmet. Guess what the first twwo Rangers hitters got plunked in the back the next inning. Padilla was gone the next morning. Clueless, does not deserve to wear the uniform.
  3. Wow, sounds like a great gig! I love the new Mulatu record - Mulatu Steps Ahead. Hopefully the volcanic ash and planes being grounded don't disrupt the tour too much, worst places to be stuck than Athens. Let us know how things go.
  4. The new Nels Cline and Kimbrough are excellent. I expect them both to be on my end of year best of short list.
  5. You can't throw a rock two inches in the bay area without hitting a skinny stay at home mom w/ bad blond dye job blocking the sidewalk with a double wide baby stroller holding a frapachino or a frat boy duche bag in a Red Sox hat here. Its awful. We will see what the Giants are made of here soon as they play the Dodgers, Padres (whom they couldn't beat last year for some reason), Cardinals, Philies and Rockies in the next two weeks.
  6. I know it was meaningless game on the last night of the season between the Blazers and Warriors but if this was Nellies last game as a coach he coached the game of his life. He had 8 players suited up but the 3 of them were injured (you have to have at least 8 players in uniform) so last night he had only 5 players which was basically Ellis, A rookie (Curry who is amazing btw) and 3 D League players. One of them fouled out so he had to have the other 3 injured players go out on the court for one play say they were injured and leave the arena so that the player that fouled out could go back in. If he fouled anybody the other team got a technical in addition to the foul free throws. Against all odds the Warriors won this game which was also on the road. Nice story that will be forgotten in a day but it deserves some mention.
  7. Might make it easier to get some old Tony Rice and Sam Bush titles now, and they will hit emusic also.
  8. Anybody have any info on this aside that Marc Anderson is with him on this. I'll probably grab it anyways even though I haven't hear anything by him post Big Map Idea.

    Mal Waldron

FYI - the 320 bit MP3 albums of this and the Get Go are going for 1.98 on Amazon. A good way to check these out as the vinyl is impossible to find and cheaper with higher bit rate than grabbing them on emusic. I was listening to the Get Go the other night and fell in love with it all over again. Seagulls is an all time favorite.
  10. If Lee and Bedard come back healthy that is a great 1-2-3 with King Felix in the rotation. Looking from the outside the three issues with the M's that may need to be addressed asap are (knowing that the 3rd one won't be addressed because the last time it was brought up Mike Hargrove lost his job over it): 1. Is Griffey done? Too early to tell but has he lost bat speed? 2. Milton, hope for the best or cut ties with him before he loses it. 3. Ichiro moving from the lead off spot to third. Now that they have Figgins who is one of the best lead off batters in the AL will Ichiro give up on his I only bat lead off, hit 330 w/ 200 hits and move to 3rd in the order and become a 25 hr - 90 rbi guy which he is very capable of doing and help the team out to score runs and win games.
  11. The M's deserved to lose tonight just for having Death Cab For Cutie play opening ceremonies and do covers of Take Me Out To The Ball Game and Centerfield. Really? All that great musical talent in Seattle and they give you Death Cab doing Centerfield? Speaking of left field, its too early to get worked up and I have seen him at his best and carry a team but the Bradley experiment doesn't seem to be working out too good so far. A's are showing some signs of life which I haven't seen in years which is nice for a change. Probably won't mean a thing two months from now when they are back under 500 but I will enjoy this while I can.
  12. I just started getting into the Weber Colours band, I love Sand-Glass and Seriously Deep off of Yellow Fields/Silent Feet.
  13. Seattle has their home opener today, I like the way the A's rotation matches up for this series. I have no clue how Duke will do tonight but I love Anderson and Gonzalez at the 4 and 5. If Ben Sheets returns to decent the A's may have a legit rotation.
  14. Funny that I just came across this thread because yesterday I was playing Webers - Little Movements thinking this would be a great prog record if you replaced the soprano sax with electric guitar. Really like John Marshall's drumming on this.
  15. Quincy, Aggie and anybody else who has it, how is the new Lizard holding up. I never gave it a chance before but it seems like something I would enjoy now. The new re-Mix of Red is brilliant.
  16. wow, Heyward hit a very impressive opposite field home run on a night where nothing is going out. The kid has good hands.
  17. Paplebom is the worst. You also forgot the oh so classy Derek Lowe when he was a Red Sox in 2003 and during the ALDS grabbing his crotch and yelling Suck It! to Tejada at the end of the series. Seems like Ortiz and Manny when he was a Red Sox stood and watched every home run land in the seats before trotting out of the box. Red Sox are a very good well run team but I would never call them or their fans classy. Celtics are also know for being the biggest trash talkers in the NBA. Something in the water in Boston I guess. Anyway back to the coast I care about, Todd Wellemeyer is looking pretty good for the Giants so far, I wasn't too into the idea of having a five man rotation when they have every Thursday off for the month but if Wellemeyer can hold his own it could work out. The A's look ok too, its early and I am not expecting much but I am seeing some good things I haven't seen since 06.
  18. Gabor Szabo - Bacchanal
  19. Pumpkin Pie - Organissimo
  20. wp: Lee Morgan - Cornbread np: Richard Thompson - (guitar, vocal)
  21. Randy's killin it on the whole disc! Awesome mix and sound for a live disc, great job all around.
  22. Jim, Mine showed up today, can't wait to crank it up! Thanks.
  23. just picked this up cheap without having any idea except of course that I like Colin Walcot. Digging it so far.
  24. I don't know, he looked really good on that 2 run homer that almost landed in the Berkeley Hills and had a great catch later in the game that prevented a bases clearing double. I didn't see the last play of the game so can't comment on that except I am glad the A's won.
  25. Do what the NFL does and spit the TV revenue. Teams that have the benefit of drawing 3-4 million a year and sell luxury box seating get to keep and do whatever they want with the profits. Red Sox and Yankees should have an advantage due to location and loyalty but they shouldn't have a 500 dollar million advantage just for TV revenue. They wouldn't make that kind of money playing split squad games so give the other team some of that like the NFL. In this case have a minimum cap but not a maximum cap to see if helps change things.
